It does. All you have to do is switch back to XP mode, which is possible in every Vista version. Bob will be your Uncle before you can say 'Gosh, maybe I should have read up a bit on this issue'.Originally Posted by Abokasee

Solution: dual-boot with Windows XP. You'll get the functionality of Vista (good for Windows Movie Maker) with the gaming functions of XP.
Was very pleased to see that Thief 2 works on vista, what would I do without it?? Now I can finally forgive them that even the clock doesn't work properly, 15 seconds lag each day.
You cant play diablo 2 on vista unless you get a patch that costs $$$

This is not a problem if you have two hard drives. If you have a single hard drive, then you'll need to reformat and partition (split) the hard drive into two parts (one for XP, one for Vista).
Or you get a program that makes a partition without reformatting, something like Partition Magic.
It was from PowerQuest before but seems they went bankrupt. One can only hope it's not as bad as Norton Internet Security now.![]()

its a bit too complicated for me :(
Thanks for the help anyway
Offtopic: I have this game but... have never actually installed it. I have no idea how long I've had it, but it's the old "big box" original version. I played Thief 1 on expert level up until the "upside down" level. That was complex and annoying, almost as annoying as the zombie and burrick levels and caused me to give up... after several attempts over several years.Originally Posted by Fragony
So the question is, taking the above into account: Should I give Thief 2 a spin?
Ontopic: Personally I think that being able to play a certain game/run a certain app can be very important, sometimes moreso than having new hardware/OS that cannot run that particular game. The OS is there after all to run applications and if you cannot run certain applications on a new OS, then you have to question as to why you're upgrading.
This is why I wouldn't bother with Vista and/or newer hardware that can't run MTW.

Thief 2 is just as great as Thief 1. I would say it's even better just for the sole fact that the levels are much larger. In "Life of the Party" you have to get from your hiding point to the Cathedral via the rooftops of the city. This is a really long journey, and it only gets better when you find out that that's only half of the level. You have to enter the Cathedral and muck around in there as well.
I second Kekvit Irae. While not having played the Thief series myself, two of my best friends -- whose opinions on games I respect -- are big fans of it, and they both enjoyed Thief 2 as much (if not more) than the first one. Give it a whirl.![]()

Prefer the first because it's more sinister, but the second has better fanwork, and the unofficial expansion 'Shadows of the Metal Age' might just be better then both official games, and is WAY better then Deadly Shadows.
