Thread: Kingdoms units in MTW2

    Default Kingdoms units in MTW2

    Hi There,

Apologies for a noobie-type question - I've only just started modding.

    OK, my question is:

Is it possible to import Kingdoms units into MTW2? And if so, how do you do it?

As I said, I'm pretty much a beginner, so a simple walkthrough on the basics would be great.

Many thanks for all help and replies.

    Moved to modding questions.

I'd suggest looking at tutorials about adding units, etc.

Unfortunately adding units in M2TW is a bit complicated even if it's just copying units from another mod or kingdoms because you need to edit the modeldb file, etc.
So yes, you might want to get comfortable with some other stuff first, but don't take it from me, I usually try to learn everything at once, too

If you want to look into it I can try to tell you the relevant files: iirc you need to edit export_descr_units, battle_models.modeldb and the texture and model files described within, text/export_units - this should already be sufficient for custom battles. To get them in the campaign you'll also have to edit export_descr_buildings by adding a recruitment line.
Try to start with an infantry unit, they are the least prone to explode.

    Hi alpaca,

Thanks for this. That list of files is really useful. I'll check it out - though modding this particular stuff sounds a bit scary . . .
