    Default Province names

I was just wondering why CA named the provinces the way they did? For example, why isn't Caen, Normandy. Or Rennes, Brittany; Caernarvon, Wales.
Admittedly, I don't know the historical names of most of the provinces, I was just wondering why they went with the names of the settlements for the provinces.

I dont think its the name of the province or region, just the major town or city that was there at the time. For example, i would have thought that for Wales it would have been Cardiff, but i only think that was built around the industrial revolution, but i could be wrong

I agree with OP. But some regions have different names than the city they contain (Isle of Crete vs Iraklion comes to mind)

However its not that big a deal and it probably made life a lot easier for the developers. Not to suggest that they actually played the game, or even looked for some VOLUNTEER beta testers, but in any case it must have been easier to only deal with one name.

PS to CA: Please please please have a non-payed intern or something play a campaign before you release Empires. I myself will play 50 hours for free if you promise to fix 20% of the bugs I find.

As ReiseReise say, it would be much harder to give people places if you didnt know what the region itslef was called, such as in Kingdoms, in the Brittania campaign, the village of Carlisle is actually in the county Cumbria, (i live in Cumbria) But i dont think that many people would realise that Cumbria was the county's name, and many people would have heard of city names, such as Cardiff and London, wheras i do not know the countys that these Cities are in

It's pure laziness on the part of the developers. And some of the settlements (Helsinki springs to mind) didnt even exist during the middle ages.

Not as annoying as the characters having footballer names, but still a bit silly.

The kingdoms regions have proper names, as did the ones in Rome.

Yes it is a little annoying, kind of ruins the historical feel of the whole game.
Many of the mods recitify this though.

    edit: 150 not out!
