    Default Family Trees

Have any other .Orgahs traced their family trees, how far back, and how did you do it?

I'm working on mine - I have my father's side (the most important one to me) up to my great-grandfather, and my mother's to my grandparents (I haven't really worked on it as much, but one of my relatives has taken to researching it with me - no e-mail, so I've been sending letters).

However, I'm stuck. Of course, I could write to people on my father's side (what's with all the people who know anything about this not having e-mail? Honestly! In Berlin! Who would have thought?), but I'd prefer to compile some more on my own.

In essence, I need some really, really good sites - not the surname search ones (they're usually American or British), but some ones with databases for Germany, etc. I've tried the Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge (War Graves Commission) already, and found six or so people with my last name, one of which was my great-uncle, and two or so of which may be closely related.

What I need is more sites like that. Some records from the National Socialist government (because if they were bad with anything else, they were good with records), etc. Any suggestions?

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

I know - I've been in there. Kukri's site helped a little, but without finding anything more recent, I can't connect them.

I haven't done it, but I have a scanned copy of a family tree of sorts, which was handed down from father to son(s), but it's in Chinese. I have been told that I am, according to it, part of the 25th generation of sons (good ol traditional Chinese culture only worries about sons).

Seven steps up, both ways. Side branches go a shorter way but some relatives, I hear, managed to trace one of them quite a far backwards.

All of them meet up, though, about 60,000 years ago in today's Tanzania.

I did the Genetic Anthropology test. What I mess my family has turned out to be. Originates as with Mouzafphere in Tanzania (lol). Then they steadily move north, go into Modern Day Georgia, head East Into Transoxania and north into Turkmenistan and Stay until about 1200 BC. Then they move back into Persia and stay until about 800 BC, then they head West into Kappadokia until about 814 AD, and then they move North West into Hungary and Germany, and stay until 1880s. and then finally embark to North America (and thats just my moms side).
