Thread: Romani battle crash

    Default Romani battle crash

I've been playing 1.0 for a while without any major hitches. Now all of a sudden the game is crashing when I go to the battle screen to fight. It started around 179bc and was persistant. Any battle i tried to fight caused a crash no matter where or who I was fighting. At the time I was still fighting with polybian troops. The only modification I've made was to change the unconditional Marian reforms to happen around 155bc. I even restarted the campaign from the beginning but the crash is still there. What happens is the battle loading screen starts, the green bar advances slightly and the game then crashes and restarts my computer.

I've loaded all the permanent fixes and have no cities in rebellion. I even used the install verification program and it came back blank which is right since I've not modified anything from the original rtw files. At this point I'm looking at reinstalling everything--rtw, rtw-bi, and eb.

The strat map runs fine and I get no ctd's except for the battle map.

Heres the autosave from my last turn

I dont want to auto resolve as that takes away much of the fun.
Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I went back and checked my vanilla rtw, ran a battle and had no problems. I then went back to EB and started a new campaign and have yet to have the battle crash so at this point I'm stumped.

From reading some of the other threads there appears to be some kind of bug associated with the marian reforms, spain, and the 170ish bc time frame. My particular bug happened after 179bc and at the point where i started attacking the spanish cities.

This is not right, at least not if you've installed the fixes! Those should show up as a "corruption". I'd suggest that you run the validation in a command window to see what's happening.

I ran the validation and came up with no errors. I restarted the campaign and ran smooth until I took the first spanish town( sucum-mirgi). When the garrison sortied I went to the battle screen to fight and it crashed out again and restarted my pc. I went back to a save game and replayed only auto resolving with no issues.

I believe that the problem is Spain. Theres something screwy when I get ctd's only when fighting them. Have had none with any of the other factions.
Anyway the Spanish have been eliminated and I've had no problems since.

You might not yet have applied the Oppida fix?

Again, coming up with "no errors" is wrong. The fixes shall turn up as corruptions, so you have not installed the fixes correctly. Oh well, I suggest you have a whack at 1.1 now.

Understood. Which Java script should I download as there are several listed on the java page.

Btw I just got another crash at Milan fighting the sweboz so its not just a spanish issue. Its 183bc and I'm at the polybian reforms and the crash occured as I loaded the battle screen to resolve the seige. Its not a game killer as I save every turn. Thanks for responding.

Get any JRE, or any J2SE.

    And get EB 1.1.
