Default altering unit size (Is it possible to have a unit of 1 man)

is it possible to have a unit value of 1?
ive tried this with the battle editor ,but even when setting units at 1 they still begin battle with at least 5 men.
    thanks in advance

Nope, minimum is 6 (3 with small unit size). You can get a workaround by:

    a) Making a unit with invisible models for soldiers and setting the model of the officer to be the model of the troops of the unit you wanted to shoot.

    b) Making a historical battle with 'small' unit size settings. And remove the unit's officer lines.

There's another (slightly better) workaround where you make the unit into a mount, and give him invisible riders (like an elephant with invisible riders, but the elephant looks like a soldier.

It's harder to get right, but it works better because you won't have people fighting invisible soldiers.

    EDIT:

PS, because this is a frequently asked question, I edited your thread title so that other people might look here.

Question: If I was to make a one man unit I would only be allowed one attack type because mounts cannot have alternate attacks can they?

Well LOTRTW use a similar strategy for Sauron and give him a mount - he only gets one attack. The upside of this is that he has more health than a normal general.

As Flying Pig said, the sauron of lotr-tw uses the method described by Myrddraal. The problem is when you use a unit size setting greater than "normal", then you will see Sauron clones (2 with large settings, 4 with huge).

Finally, after years thinking it was immposible, we have found a workarround for it. I have explained it in the complete edu disscussion: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showt...t=88860&page=3

I think the mount can't have alternate attacks, but it includes invisible riders that could achieve proyectile attacks, doesn't it?
