to solve the misbalances discussions the addon could contain a competition faction

a bunch of well picked rockpaperscissoring units like

    1 knights
    1 boyards
    1 hcav
    1 med cav
    1 fast light cav
    1 horsearcher
    1 jav or crossbow horsearcher
    1 catapult or effectiv ballista
    1 archer
    1 crosbowmen
    1 longbowmen
    1 peasant
    1 spear
    1 pike-a-like
    1 light inf with javelins/skirmishers
    1 light inf
    1 inf sword militia
    1 inf sword knight
    1 halberdiers
    1 fanatics-a-like berserkers
    1 camel archer
    1 camel sword
    1 naphta throwers
    1 ninja-a-like how u call them?

24 of them (did i miss some units?)

so if people host a comp game they can select only from these selection. and according to teh faction teh sprite changes but teh stats stay teh same.

so what u think of this?

i know my Khan would like this cuz he doesnt care about 100+ units and the similar stats.

Still too much choice for my taste but imho it will do. Would also make it easier for new ppl joining the game, and also for me cuz I get confused play 12 factions and trying out all those units. Was the strength of stw, not too much choice but all useable units. In contrast with battlefieldninja's and kensai in mi.

    imo, it could be work....
but i think there is an other solution.

    1. yes, 100 men units are bad an never can be balanced

    2. some units ur didnt listed are not bad and can be balanced

    3. the big prob is the use of too much florin! just set a max of 8/9 or 10 and all will solve

    4. archer: cavarcher has same stats like the normal footarcher, but 20 men less and this ca are expensiv, to make this unit worth the money, give them a bit more power or faster shooting or more ammo or a combination of this! maybe higher the armour...

i wont go into detail but a max 2 of same kind of unit with a very high penalty for the 3rd or 4th unit would be solve some prob.

or a standart of 8 units wich u have to take.

or this max-florin-rule for comp games!
this would solve the most probs at once, coz all guys would change in friendly to the 8k max as well to "train" for the comp games...

I actually like your idea Magyar, however I think it's a more of a cool thing than a serious strategical concept. It would work great until people figured out the one or two things that they were suppossed to do with it, and then only did those things. For instance lets say that it's strength is something traditional, how about spearmen on hold in front, swordsmen at sides for flanking, an cav at sides for attacking enemie's back. Well then that's all anyone's going to do. I don't like the idea of a set army because I like to take different armies for different maps. For someone such as yourself, you believe 12 spears and 4 swords are unbeatable, so why take anything besides that? For someone who understands how to beat spears, like myself, I am not convinced that spears dominate and therefore I am not convinced of the need to force players to use non spear armies. I am all for a random army option though, where all players are stuck with the same army, but not a one-army-set-in-stone-cannot-use-anything-different army.

This is another version of the "balanced army" mission you were on in STW. However, the real problem is that units need to be balanced. . . which did finally happen in STW (at least to most people's agreement).

Just my opinion, of course, but I would rather allow people to choose whatever armies they like (although the addtional cost after four of one type of unit is good - and I wouldn't even mind if the limit was 3) while making sure that no units are so out of line that bulking up your army with them will guarantee wins in most situations. Otherwise, you are just substituting one type of cookie cutter army for another. Okay you can't have all oof and maa but you must have 1 of each of these.

Summary - carry on with balancing all units so this isn't an issue anymore - rather than making wholesale retrictions.- (and of course, this is just my opinion.)

I quite like having different factions with their varying strengths and weaknesses, besides the variety of units is good.

Am I wrong or will the patch enable players to chose the same factions?

I totally agree with Kocmoc about the florin limits. I think that 8K is the best. although I can see that slighly higher enables further use of cav (which I gather is also being made cheaper in the patch). The higher the koku, the more honour upgrades make the units inbalanced and they cease to be what they were designed as.
