Thread: After the turn limit

    Default After the turn limit

    Hey, guys
I have a simple question - i finished the campaign a good 50 turns before the limit of 225. I thought that the game would simply end at turn 225, but obviously I can play further.

Now, I have conquered the Carribbean and two Aztec settlements and I would like to finish the job. The only problem is that I am not certain for how long I can play after the 225 turns run out.

So that's my question: When does the game really end? How many turns have you got left after the initial 225 run out?

Will be happy to get some responses
    Thanks
    :)

Until you conquer every last settlement, simply put. You can probably play for 1,000 turns after the initial 225 turns if you really want to.
I believe in a society without rules, laws and regulations. A society where there are only ideas - strict ideas that must be followed to by the letter - and any failure to comply is punishable by death. This would be no dictatorship or police state, no one would be living in terror. It would merely be a 'reassessment of one's preferences,' people living in 'not-so-optimistic security.' So, welcome, those who are 'longing to be blindly obedient and loyal, unbeknownst to them.'

you can play endlessly. Well almost. There are guys that have played until 1850. Seems boring to me but it is possible.

It occurs to me that I've never played until the end of the turn limit, on any TW game. What happens? Do you get a message of some sort?

    Oh, great!
    Thanks

But I suppose you have a point there - I doubt that the technology of my faction will be improving according to the year or turn count.

Nevertheless - I would still like to kick some Aztec ass before I quit...and until i get the Kingdoms expansion.

Yes, if you play up until 2008 as the English, your kingdom enlists CA to fix many of your troops bugs with a promised patch. But unfortunately the promised patch does not come out until 2258, well and truly after the laser gun has been invented and spacetravel is made possible, your outdated army is overwhelmed by the invading alien Drengi who enslave the whole planet. If only they gave us the darn Patch in time!!!

Nothing spectacular happens after turn 225 you can continue as is, or start over again. Most factions are at the pinacle of their technology by the time the new world is discovered although if you keep playing eventually the AI starts sending hi-tech decent troops your way (scots gaurd handgunners musketeers late hvy cav etc) which makes it kinda interesting. I prefer the late to early game so as i oft post, most of my games have exceeded the 225 mark already.

Luckily time travel will be invented so you can bring the patched version to December 2006. A complete M2 will be launched and everyone will be happy praising CA for their excellent work.

Great post by Galain there, hilarious!

But seriously, there should be some message telling you the victory conditions cannot be achieved. I have managed the 226 turns before, in my first campaign as the Scots. Mainly due the fact my old PC kept crashing and I autoresolved a lot of battles, took completely the wrong armies to the New World, and only had western Europe and the Caribbean at the end.
