i forgot to say its amazing
Just want to be sure about this: As I have EB 1.0 installed, will I have to completely unistall that and RTW, to reinstall RTW, the patches and the 1.1? Just want to be sure, because that project would take a few hours or so, and I don't want to do it if it isn't necessary.
do you need to download 1,5 and the mod where you get the acropolis of athens am sorry that i have to ask again but i can't go to my previous post where i posted this
Wow! This looks like another great addition. Bruttian Infantry! Some recruitable spearmen on Sardinia! Is this another good addition to my allied ala?
I will play out my current campaign which is going well and hope by that time there is a direct installer.
Thanks guys!
Install or copy a clean 1.5 RTW installation, then install EB into the same folder. It's really that simple (and that hard, apparently). No other mods are required, in fact the safest bet is to have no other mods in that installation.
If you have a 1.0 EB installation, simply delete the EB folder and install 1.1 into the same one.

Sorry if this is not the most appropriate place, but:
It seems to be the case that you don't get a barracks if playing the Romani but also no government in Ariminium? The first was mentioned as a change, but the latter certainly was not.

Look I don´t want to be tedious but I have great problems installing the 1.3 patc in order to install 1.5, acctually I haven´t been able. So I played installing BI and updating it to 1.5. Is this posible with EB 1.1?
I don´t know if this is the best place to ask this but I am quite lost in this forums. Sorry. Great job by the way
just wanted to say;
I love the new user agreement, and will be taking it to heart, installing now :D
WotB: Timarchos Anaias Mysiakes, marching round the arche beating up rebels
LotR: Lisas Attaliedas, currently in reserve
Interesting. I am downloading it now. However while I am waiting I was wondering about one thing....
Would the Saka have their building tree upgrades they deserve after capturing Bactria and India?I don't think they retain their nomadic ways after settling down and establishing the Indo-Saka Kingdom. I mean, the Parthians got modernized (for lack of a better term), why can't the Sakas too?
Problem is that it involves a rather lot of work. If you want elaborate & complex reforms you are better off as the Hayasdan (thanks to Foot).
That said, who knows what the future (in the form of EB2) may hold for the Saka?

This is my first, (And probably last, for reasons explained later) post I've made on the forum. Can I just say, thank you for making such a totally kickass game, and v1.1 can only make it more kickass. (You've presented me with a dilemma, Play EB, do Gcses or visit the church of google >=( )Now, before you say "No problem" and "Ofc it's kickass you eejit" I've got a few points.
1. Is the diplomacy being touched up? The reason is; I hate TW's flawless ability to have world leaders who have an inhuman lack of skill in diplomacy.
2. Thanks for putting in the difficulty levels. Now I know why every Hayasdan campaign I attempted failed![]()
3. Have you sorted out the loading times? The loading times have to be THE major criticism I have with EB![]()
4.Chariots. I hate Chariots. I loathe Chariots. Chariots are the devil in two wheeled form. Chariots suck. How can the enemy use them so flawlessly, but when I use them, they stop and die. WHY?
Thanks for your time...unless you when planning to waste that time... in which case you've just spent it doing something useful haven't you?
1 Diplomacy is hardcoded and we cannot mod it in anyway.
2. Indeed. We thought it was a good idea.
3. Unfortunately EB requires that we push the RTW engine to its limit but does increase load times considerably. There is nothing we can do about this short of taking all the things that make EB EB out of the game, in which case you are just left with RTW with prettier units. Not so much fun.
4. Then you are using them wrong. Chariots do very well against cavalry, quite badly against heavy infantry, but will be completely decimated by light infantry and missile fire. To use them to push through heavy infantry formations you need to double click behind the enemy line and follow in with a unit of infantry to make use of the gaps in the enemies formation. I find them very effective, so it is really a matter of practice and knowing the best way to use them.

Cool. I knew Chariots were pwned by missile fire, but now that I know how to use them, I'll have a go as soon as it's downloaded ^^
Chariots are no killer units. Their main function is to cause mayhem in enemy formations, although they can cause considerable carnage against cavalry units. They can achieve this either by crashing through them or by skirmishing (Celtic chariots only). Celtic chariots also provide morale bonuses to nearby troops and penalties to enemies. They are rather fragile, so don't let them get bogged down and keep moving.
I agree they are somewhat underwhelming for their cost, and you should never use more than one or two units of them, but when applied correctly they can cause as much damage as a unit of elephants.

We don't have any real armor or anything like that, so we get chewed up by guys who do have it!", but conversely heavy infantry is also all like "OMG! We are so heavy and packed in so tight that we can't get out of the way! Move! Gah! Help!", while light infantry is all like "Haha! You missed me! I am not packed like a sardine in a can or amphora or whatever, so I and my buddies can jump out of the way or split up when those guys come flying at us. Maybe one or two guys get mowed down, but the rest of us can chuck our javelins at them and I'd rather be in my shoes than the pezhetaroi when those chariots are bearing down upon us!" Sorry for my English. Noble command, I want ask you about the scripts in this mod. May you create a script and units at the Maccabees rebellion?
And building of the Second Temple?
I am not sure what you are asking. Do you want to know if it possible, or if it will be done by the EB team? If the former: yes; if the latter: probably not. The Maccabean revolt, although significant from a religious perspective, was from the Seleucid perspective little more than a local uprising, of which there were so many.Originally Posted by Marteze
As for the second temple: it's tricky, since it would require a reform building, and there is no building space for that. That would be a lot of work for one single building.

I have a question for the trivial script and whatever other ones I missed out there:
Do we need to activate these separately or outside of EB or does it just activate when we click on the advisor?
What do they do?
No. Second Temple as in: 'two or more temples within the same city' ala RTR won't be done due to the fact it eats up your building complexes fast. And we don't have many of those left to spare...Originally Posted by Marteze
If you mean the second temple of Jerusalem; again no. There will be no Maccabean revolt and/or associated script in any near future release of EB for a number of simple reasons:
1) If you want it fully dynamic et all; why them? There've been much more important; and much more far-reaching revolts throughout the EB time frame for many factions. And then, if we did them all or something akin to generic revolt scripts for each faction (or close to) -- the mod would become much, much heavier.
2) If you don't want it fully dynamic; then it would be against the philosophy of EB to include it. It's a highly 'dynamic' event -- it would not make sense for it to happen if the prerequisites for such an event simply were not there. An example of such prerequisites would be AI/player oppresion of Jewish religion but most of all the tax level maintained by the AI/player in Ioudaia. Governments/governors is another factor to take into account.
If both levels had been low, no such revolt would ever have occured...
With EB we aim to give you the 'board' and the 'pieces' and let you work out how history could've happened. Within the limits of the RTW engine, of course -- but that's another matter altogether.
