Thread: Army General

  1. #1

    Default Army General

How do you change the main general of an army? I've found that I can get army where the main general has less stars than another family member within that stack.

Does that hinder the army's effectiveness? Or do both generals work together to provide a larger boost?

    Thanks in Advance.

Most of the times only the most effective general takes charge of the army. The only exception is when the faction leader is present. Then he takes charge of the army regardless of the command star.

What about having multiple generals in an army? Does that offer any bonuses other than a second unit of uber heavy cavalry?

Not AFAIK. The second general doesn't have the ability to rally troops. They may provide a small local morale boost, but I don't think so. Whenever i have two generals in a stack its just to provide extra heavy Cavalry.

And if the AI is insisting on managing your re-inforcements due to that 2nd generals prescennce, you're far more likely to lose the battle unecessarily, or at least perform badly. I think that's most common time, when RTW ignores the AI control checkbox for re-inforcements being ignored, forcing you to attempt coordination with the incompetent, and watch troops stand passively taking arrow fire for no reason.

    Hello everybody!
I'm new here and my English is not perfect, but I wish to say I'm glad to join this community! I've been reading a lot here before I registered and have to say I'm very grateful for all the things I've learned!
As for the topic, I myself haven't noticed some difference in command when I have 2 generals in the army. However, it's a useful thing, especially if you have abundance of family members and/or in the early game - and 3 general units in the early game just rock the world - a real blitz

Check the traits of the generals in your army. Sometimes a general with say 3 stars may have some negative traits like indifferent attacker and/or a general with say 1 star has some positive traits like good attacker. So sometimes the best general for a particular battle is not the one shown with the most stars. The game factors all this in when choosing your commanding general.
