Well I've never been drunk in my life and everyone think its pretty funny since I'm about to finish my first year at uni.

I've only even drunk once in my life, when I drank a few beers, a little wine, a litte punch, and some of those flavoured ones like fizzy drinks, but I didn't really feel anything at all.

So I can't really give any advice, but it does sound as if your body is rejecting the stuff deliberately. You don't actually feel drunk before you are sick after drinking so little do you?

All I know is that if I do ever start drinking it won't be socially I will be an alcoholic...

I'd echo the advice that seems to be pretty much repeated above. Lay off the alcohol for a few weeks (at least) and if it happens again then maybe go see a doctor.

As to the whole debate that seems to have popped up... Drinking to get drunk is stupid and a sure way to kill your liver (have fun sorting that out... lol). Going out and having a few drinks with mates and stuff once in a while, or every week or two, isn't such an issue. I realise that some (maybe even most) would still say thats too much, but hey, I'm a uni student with a life, what can I say? Moderation (even some attempt at it) is your friend.

Have you heard of Pancreatitis?...I don't want to alarm you, but it is a very serious thing, that most people have never heard about. If you have been doing alot of partying in the last year, it's a very real possibilty.

You may not think that seeing a doctor is neccesary, as did my friend-he ended up on a mortuary slab a week later. He died 23 yrs old, what caused it? No one knows, even after the post mortem...what triggered it off?....Alcohol.

ya'll should take what your high school drug counselor says with a few more grains of salt. Alcohol doesn't make you act like an idiot unless you already are one. Being drunk removes inhibitions, increases enjoyment from physical sensations, and gives you mild euphoria. There's really no good reason not to drink to get drunk (as non dd) unless the other people at the party are all no-fun drink sippers

Come on Sasaki... I'm not that naive!

Its just that when I first started uni I went a little bit (OK absolutely way way...) over the top. A couple of times my mates actually had to literally carry me home.

And shock of all shocks, I'm yet to experiance a hangover, in other words I don't suffer the consequences of my body telling me to stop poisoning myself (and yes I don't know why either).

My point is that I realised that just going out and getting pissed because I can is a complete waste of time and eventually, somewhere down the line I'm going to start paying for it. I'm definitely not a teetotaler or whatever the word is... I've just decided to confine my stupidity to proper occasions (birthdays, weddings, funerals... you know what I mean).

I'm not attempting to preach to anyone, you're free to do what you want I just don't like being patronised (however slightly, I may be a bit touchy as everyone seems to be doing it to me at the moment... no offence intended)

Sasaki, you have kind of insulted me this time, so you should have just left your reply earlier as one word. I am rather angry, actually, which is why I've kept editting this post. I have gotten upset for typing some earlier versions of this post. I suffer dyspepsia, and that is uncomfortable, making me feel sick and bloated a fair amount of the time. Last year, when on holiday, I over-indulged on rather rich foods, and I spent three days feeling ill. The third, I was burping all day, and feeling very sick. In fact, I remember my 20th birthday - 3 glasses of wine, never got drunk, but had terrible wind at 2:30AM the following morning. Felt very sick, breath tasted of white wine, was very foul, thought I was going to be sick. I've had a nasty history when it comes to being sick, and try my best to keep away from anything that would make me spew up everywhere. So I feel very strongly when it comes to drunkeness.

I've seen a family member spew up in the frontroom. I've seen drunks at a restaurant ruining everyone else's meals, even if they weren't being violent.

I do take it to heart when someone says it's 'obviously silly' for me, someone who has never been drunk, to criticise drunks. I respect alcohol, and respect my body the best I can. I have enough problems without needing my stomach pumped. Plenty of people regret drunkeness, and not all of them are drunks. Drunkeness assumes loss of control, not knowing when to stop. I just find it ever so worrying how people can downplay the seriousness of such an issue... People can do what they want to their bodies, but they need to know that certain things will attract attention and criticism, justifiably, especially something as public as drunkeness.

I'd request it to be left at that, please. You can do what you want to your body, but don't mock me for not getting drunk. The OP was also asking for advice, and I gave them advice in line with their problem, which was to lay off the drinking. And to add to that, the OP should go see a doctor. None of us are doctors, so can only give certain advice.

Please don't reply to this, Sasaki, thank you. I've tried to limit my anger in this post, which is why I editted it a number of times. But I feel very strongly on this issue, and you made it feel somewhat personal. At least that's how I felt at first, even if it might not have been your intention...

Sorry about this post, need to say it in some fashion. Still not satisfied, worried too much anger is showing through...but I'll be here all night, otherwise...hope this version does it. Maybe I'm being too politically-correct with my replies...oh well, this one will have to be settled for.

Since this thread appears to have run its course I might as well give you a brief explanation.

It’s not a big deal, really. All you do is apply the basics of animation. Develop an idea for a smiley, install some good freeware and off you go. Think ahead and be accurate though, or else your files and ultimately your smileys end up a total mess.

Start out with something simple. You can either scan a drawing or photograph of the basic shape you want, or borrow an existing smiley shape from the Web. I prefer the small balloon-like smilies because I think they are most expressive. At their best they are delicate little gems, like this one:



When you have scanned or downloaded the shape you need, open it in Paint or some other simple graphic program. Convert the image to a GIF. Enlarge it by 800X. You can now study its pixel structure and change pixels at will.

Suppose you took this shape from the Web:


Enlarged to 800x it looks like this:



You can now use the paint box to fill in details such as eyes, mouth and apparel. Switch back and forth between normal size and 800x to see what works.

Save every attempt under a name and number. You may want to return to it later. Even if most of it is useless, you can copy the good parts and paste them into another .GIF to save time.

Let's save the lumberjack smiley I just made as 'Number 1'.

Now if I open 'Number 1' in Paint, save it as 'Number 2' and change the eyes to make them look the other way, I get this:


Next I open a decent freeware animation pack. I like Beneton Movie GIF. Another one, very basic but fast, is UnFreeZ.

Import Number 1 and Number 2 in that order, set a delay for each frame, click the ‘Make GIF’ button, save it under a new name, and voilà, we have a shifty and therefore most un-Beirutian lumberjack:


Give it a try, you will master it in no time.

Well I guess because you went way over the top, your body is protecting you from alcohol. If this is the case you might never be able to drink a bit decently again.

Also I echo sasaki's opinion. Getting drunk once in a while, or drinking with freinds more than once a week, isn't that bad. Just don't go to far, learn your limits, get freinds you thrust. And remember it's not how much you drink, but how much you have amused yourself. I can amuse myself whole nights only drinking coca cola, but then again I can also amuse myself drinking chimay so...
