Is there any way to find out more detail on 'Improved siege auto-resolve for the Britannia, Crusades and Teutonic campaigns'?
As I understood it before there was no advantage being behind walls with auto resolve and in fact tactically bad news as if you lost your whole army is dead!
Could those of you having problems please post your dxdiags so we can have a better idea of what systems this problem is occuring on.

This is a new patch, new as in the last 24 hours. As for uninstalling/reinstalling everything, don't waste your time. I uninstalled/reinstalled everything, and it made no difference.
-edit-
Well, now that I think about it, I did not delete the entire folder where M2 had been living. I guess I'll uninstall everything, manually delete the folder, reinstall and see if the patch feels like working today.
-edit of the edit-
Well, that was a waste of time. I guess I'll just chill out until CA has a working version of this patch, or an understanding of why it's not installing on so many machines.
Could someone tell me if the patch is compatible for MP with people who only have vanilla?
Specifically I'm thinking about when Kingdoms first came out, and players without Kingdoms had to get the 1.3 patch. Even in hotseat games for the Grand Campaign, someone with 1.3 or Kingdoms could pick up the save from a 1.2 player but not the other way around.
I have downloaded the European version (125MB). It installed within 10 minutes and works like a charm. The patch is save game compatible.
I have already discovered a bug that wasn't repaired in the Americas Campaign. Coyote priests have no skin and are invisible when fighting in a rebel army.

damn it, and I just started an EB 1.1 campaign few days ago. I am very glad that CA is actually continuing support for m2tw. thought you guys gave up on it and move on to ETW. thanks alot for the patch.
I have the retail version and the EU 1.05 patch installed first time with no errors on my XP SP2 PC. I also had the retrofit mod and the full unit mod installed but I haven't tried them yet to see if anything odd happens.
So I installed the first patch that was released. Is that the same patch except they accidently released those two exe files with it?
Or is there a difference between the first one and the new one?
If so, will I have to uninstall Kingdoms to install this new one properly?
Seconding Quickening's question:
For those couple hundred of us who successfully downloaded the "wrong" patch yesterday, do we have to start over?
Coz I had started on a Teutonic/Danish game, only to find out about the Kalmar Union bug ... so I scratched that one and made the Kalmar fix I found on the site but hadn't got back to playing that scenario. Then yesterday I downloaded the patch and immediately started another Teutonic/Danish game ... Everything seems to be working, but am I playing a busted flush again?
Thanks ...
Ulysses Everett McGill: I am the only daddy you got! I'm the damn pater familias! Wharvey Gal: But you ain't bona fide!
That's the main thing I wanted to know. So, I can install this patch and still continue with my PBM hotseat game, correct?
I have loaded saved games in all four campaigns and played a couple of turns. I had two campaigns unpacked and modified. I had installed the Kalmar Union fix, the Welsh reinforcements fix and modded armour / shields to the apaches. I did not encounter any problems.

Scanning this board and others, it seems that the vast majority of people affected are using the U.S.A. retail version of the game. For what it's worth.
am i wrong when i state that those with vista don't have problems installing the patch, and those with xp do?
As to what-if, all such thinking is nothing more than simple mental excersises, to see how many details you can come up, but, history is forged by unforseen events, thus, making a what-if impossible.
Most of us do not get into the office until 9 am, I am one of the few who gets in at 8 am. Hence why no posts recently in this thread as we've been asleep.
For those of you with the Direct 2 Drive, Steam or other downloaded retail versions of Kingdoms or Medieval II Gold, do not apply the patches listed in the first post. Patches for your version of the game will be out soon.
We are trying our best to work out why the patch does not install correctly on some versions of the game. I would ask everyone to post what retail version of the game they have, and what version(s) of the patch they have tried to install. I've heard mixed reports on these forums that it might be just the US patch, or that people are having problems with the EU and UK patches as well.

I downloaded the European patch (08-04-2008) and installed. The game worked (played a couple of turns) and no problems.
Then I got emails from some friends that the update I installed was the wrong one. Downloaded the European patch (10-04-2008; 128 MB).
As a precaution I de-installed MTWII and Kingdoms and all patches. Cleaned my harddrive with Ccleaner, cleaned the registry and manualy removed files wich where left on my harddisk. Then defragmented the hard drive.
Installed MTWII and Kingdoms (including all updates). Started a game in MTWII and played a couple of turns. All things worked, so I started a game in Kingdoms (Brittania campaign), played a couple of turns and all worked fine.
Installed on my computer is Windows XP Professional, with Service pack 2 installed.
Got some emails from friends in the USA, all had problems installing the US update (XP and Vista).
But most people I know who installed the European version had no problems!!

I have Kingdoms as a seperate retail purchase in it's own box. Not gold, and not over the internet.
I downloaded the regular US patch from Worth Playing yesterday. I got the error everyone else is getting. I uninstalled everything and deleted the folders.
I reinstalled M2TW and checked it. Put in the 1.01 patch and checked it. Put in the 1.02 patch and checked it. Put in Kingdoms (which put in 1.03 for M2TW and 1.04 for Kingdoms). Checked both. Then I downloaded the 1.05 US regular patch from Internode. Got the same error. Got frustrated for spending hours on this and gave up for now.

U.S.A. retail version of M2, U.S.A. retail version of M2: Kingdoms. Version of patch applied is Total_War_Kingdoms_Patch_US.rar, the newer one linked to at the beginning of this thread. If you need more detail, please specify.
-edit-
For those who are interested, here's the Totalwar.com thread on the subject. Seems like most of the people in trouble have the U.S.A. retail versions, as I said before.
M2TW USA language bought from Walmart week after release which makes it store bought retail.
Kingdoms USA language bought from Walmart store bought retail.
I own both sets of dvds. Now, why all the bs about Gold Edition, Steam, and other johnny-come-lately's? Take care of dvd owners.

I appreciate any advice you may have.
Wow! What a surprise. I did the same things and then low and behold, I got the same result. Now we can only wait until something comes out that actually works....
