blank unit cards

i just tried battle of Carrhea and a general and 2 horse archers units (not the Parthian, but the other ones) been blank.
the same happened in battle on Asculum where elephant unit card went blank.
after minimizing (Alt-Tab) the game and then bringing it back up the card pictures appeared.

any explanation?
the same thing i noticed happening in custom battles when allowing computer to choose an army for you. in this instance blank units cards belong to the units that are not even on the current faction roster. but again, Alt-Tabing the game fixes it.

thoughts?

i guess it might be connected with the fact there are 2 different EDU files, one for SP and another for MP games?
EDIT: anyone else noticed such unit cards appearence?

No, it might not. However I know what you are talking about as I have seen this happening myself. For some odd reason the game is either unable to find the files, or is deliberately prevented from reading them. In any case it seems related to 'long sessions', which makes it rather more likely that this has something to do with:
a) Memory leak and the OS starting to get fed up with it (i.e.: massive garbage collection)
b) Other ways of overtaxing your system.

People have reported that adding more RAM has eliminated this problem.

i got 2 GB RAM and my video card is Gainward Bliss nVidia GeForce 8800GT 1GB DDR3 Golden Sample Dual.
i didnt not even play it for long but just started the game and went to Historical Battle right away.

also when playing as Saka forts and watchtower icons are blank too. alt-tabing doesnt fix this though

could you see the digits, number of troops in a unit though?
also when mousing over the blank unit card does the name get dispayed?
i can see both these things, but the actual picture.

. You could always run the validation, but it shouldn't be any difference.

Yes. And I still maintain it's due to overtaxing your system ... because it only happened to me when I leave the game running for something like 3 or more hours. (I have a habit to simply leave the game running when I am off to do something else. It does decrease game stability though...)

how can it be? i just fired it up and went to historical battle. it didnt run for any significant period of time, just a few minutes. seeing that so many people have same issue kind of pacifying and i dont mind it as long as campaign doesnt have any crucial bugs.
you may wanna look into blank watchtower/forts icons for Saka though.

Armenia for instance havent got such issue

Thanks for the screenshot. I see it's the same in my installation, so we must have lost something on the watchtower/fort pictures. The units show up fine though, so I think that's something particular to your computer.

It's not uncommon. It happened to me with the IBFD mod and has occurred occasionally with EB.

I have dual 8800 GTX 768mb and 2gb system ram. I was considering adding another gig to see if it worked, but I wouldn't see any kind of performance boost anyway so there was no point.
