I seem to recall a while ago that the stw multiplayer servers were to be taken down

Is this the case?

I watched 'Ran' the other night for the first time (you know, the akira kurusawa film that features in the intro to, i think, the mongol invasion pack) and fancied getting back into shogun - seeming them flags on the warriors backs just soooo reminded me of stw
I have the original 1.00 shogun and an budget re-release of the warlord edition but can i play online with either and with xp?
