I seem to recall a while ago that the stw multiplayer servers were to be taken down

Is this the case?

I watched 'Ran' the other night for the first time (you know, the akira kurusawa film that features in the intro to, i think, the mongol invasion pack) and fancied getting back into shogun - seeming them flags on the warriors backs just soooo reminded me of stw
I have the original 1.00 shogun and an budget re-release of the warlord edition but can i play online with either and with xp?

PPS the mongol invasion sooooo killed the online game by splitting us in two

Yes, they pulled the plug on the Servers way back but players have been using a FakeServer to organise online games.
