Hadrian's Wall would be a distorting factor, since Roman troops from all over the empire would potentially be stationed there, most of them not Celts. That would make it one of the least reliable regions from which to draw any conclusions about supposed British hero cults. Which are the sites where these little jewels have been found, and how do we know they depict heroes?
