    Hey all,

Is there any way to effect whether you kill or capture an enemy King (or general or whatever)? I have been playing as Turkey, and have been practicing getting the first few turns down perfect. I have been able to capture the Egyptian King several times, but the last few I have only been able to kill him.

Is there any way for the player to influence what happens? I wish there was some sort of order I could give to spare him but capture at all cost. Once he runs I should think that capturing would be more likely, but it seems to be random so far.

    Thanks.

It's tough to do if you have him surrounded, especially if he's high honour and refuses to flee like a VIPPED DOG.

You're probably more interested in fighting a faction than silly rebels. more "fun" i suppose.

hmmmmmm...well, if you do get him packing then he'll get nasty Vices, but it'll take some finesse if he's high command...maybe kill him off and hope he has a low command heir.

If you want to reenact the old "Saracen - king richard" tea party, it might be best to chase him down with horse archers. i think they have the lowest attack rating...not sure if that helps capture better.

    good luck.

Yeah I hagve tried that. This last time I surrounded him with nothing but peasents, spears, and horse archers...I guess the spears finished him. It just bothers me that it is so random. I would like to be able to order them to attempt to capture the King instead of just running him down. That is the way it often way in Medieval times...bounties were a huge deal to soldiers, so it was more likely that they would capture important enemies than slay them. Most of the Kings and leaders who died in that day were killed by accident or bad lucky, rather than deliberate enemy action.

    Oh well.

Far as I know, the only way to capture a king is it he is running.

I've been trying for a while to be able to do this, it seems that in order to capture an enemy king, you must make him break and flee, then try to catch him with some fast cavalry (Alan Mercs or possible even Mounted Crossbows)...

... the best way however is to try to wedge the enemy king into a corner by attacking his neighbouring friendly provinces to cut off his retreat... the bonus to this is that once you've made him break you can happily let him run off the map and still pick up your ransom 'cos he's got nowhere to run to (unless of course his heirs decide not to pay the ransom which has happened to me in the past... one french heir refused to pay the ransom for his pop and two brothers I caught with this method... callous git.
