    Default Unt Rebalancing : Cavalry?

OK, I'm playing campaign Very Hard, Battle Hard and I see one HUGE difference from 1.0.

Cavalry isn't NEARLY as cool. I think this is a big plus, actually; but even repeated heavy cavalry charges in the rear of Celtic Levy Spearmen don't cause them to panic and flee now, unless they're already demoralized and exhausted; AND their 6 command start leader has died.

I have to say, bravo to the EB Team. This is truly making the romani campaign much mroe challenging. How was this acocmplished? Just beafing up the levy spearmen morale, dumbing down the cavalry (especially light and medium) or both?

Hard battle diff translates to +3 (or was it 4?) morale and some combat values for the AI units. That might of have something to do with it.

true, but I played on hard and very hard in 1.0, and found that levy units would break and run at the drop of a cavalry saber....

Wouldn't a real person do so under the very idea of a vicious cavalry charge on his back?

*shrug* A lot of stat values used to be a bit messed up. They should be fixed now. Can't remember having particularly done anything to the morale of the Lugoae, but then again I don't have the old stats lying around anymore either so I can't really make a comparision.

This is definately not a critique. I'm having a lot of fun playing this on hard. It gives the AI a LOT of advantages, but also forces the player to think a lot more, rather than just engage, flank charge, rinse repeat.

I thought the mass was increased though, so now the charge should be MORE powerful.

IIRC the mass of the "medium" horses (which Roman horse by and large ride) stayed pretty much the same tho'.

I was under the impression that hard and veryhard difficulty for battles only applied to the AI when it was on the attack.

At least, that's how the RTW FAQ on totalwar.org seemed to phrase it.

Stop playing on any setting higher than medium for battle. Levy's will cut and run then.
