Life in Montana pretty much prepares you to expect a confrontation of some sort with a Mountain Lion. I've seen several in the wild, all times being completely scared ****less. However, you have to be nonchalant and do not confront them under any circumstance. If it looks like a confrontation is unavoidable (like they want you off of their turf) back away slowly while facing them, and make yourself appear much larger than you are (a jacket usually suffices) while yelling at it. Mountain Lions are beautiful, but deadly creatures (although there are hardly ever any reported attacks, much less fatalities) and the biggest risk they pose to Humans is indeed not the chance of attack, but the fact that many are infected with bubonic plague.
That is all for now.![]()
