Those randy Danes..!

Man alive, sometimes as other factions I'm lucky if I get one heir, (with all those rabid V&V's) But, having just played a high campaign as the Danish I'd routinely have four to five of them! Great for having RK reserves, but a bit of a drain on the coffers.
Is this a regular thing or was the King just, ahem, making good use of his castles?

In my campaigns, Danish queens do have a tendency to be rather....fertile.

Perhaps it's only coincidence, but I rarely suffer from a lack of heirs when playing as them.

I've had two campaigns ending prematurely as the Danes, as I suddently had no heirs. This was because my king had 6 sons in a decade. When he died at a very old age, the brothers took charge for roughly two years each and then died from old age. When the youngest brother died there was no heir...

I think - and this is a total guess based on no evidence other than my own experience - that one-province starters get this little bonus, to make their chances better in the campaign, as I can confirm both danes and aragonese don't waste time in producing heirs.

That's possible but having too many heirs is not always a blessing due to the six heirs cap.

Nevertheless, in my recent campaign as Aragon I manage to get all of Spain and a bit of North Africa the really hard way since I started in the high period .... After years of battles, my last king (a total idiot with 0 command, 0 acumen) became king and got married when he was 24 (looked good to me then) ... Problem is that 25 years later that idiot only manage to get two daughters ... Since I have basically a battle per turn, I can find the courage to cheat my way out of this by reloading save games (nothing worse IMHO that fighting a long battle and have your king dead when you go back to the startegic map, it feels like a kind of CTD)

Since I seem to have a lot of trouble with factions dying out on me this sounded good...hadn't tried the Danes yet.

I have to say the rebels up around the Baltic are not much impressed by Vikings. Just took Livonia after five years of revolts. No port, couldn't get guys out to make revolts smaller...the original rebels holed up in a fort so couldn't build a port...constantly defending against the revolts so couldn't assault the fort. Slaughtered them by the thousands before they finally gave up.

Yep, Livonia is one of the provinces that has a higher unrest factor than most (just like Scotland and Portugal). It subsequently requires a larger garrison than most provinces to keep it loyal.

it seems to me that Livonia is even worse than Scotland and Portugal but it's probably due to the fact that I almost never play as an orthodox faction. Nevetheless, even when Livonia has turned almost 100% catholic, I have troubles as long as I do not keep a garrison of 600 men while Scotland and Portugal remain quiet with a bit less (400). Does not make a lot of sense to me either ... my only sensible explanation would be that it's due to the fact that:

- Scotland does not produce any significant income so that it makes sense to keep a low tax rate;
- Portugal's title does not give any bonus star so that the governor mostly stays in his provinces

while Livonia can make good money (hence the high tax rate) and gives a one star bonus (so that the governor is usually waging some war abroad).

Yeah I find Scotland being less rebellious than Portugal AND Livonia.. It's quite frustrating that you have to fight off several rebellions (up to 5 times) in order to control the province

But most of the time when I play the Danes they have no problem with their heirs, but several times I also ran out of heirs and my game came to an abrupt end! So I don't think they 'create' more heirs than other factions ;)
