    Default Revolt?

Just out of curiosity, if a province revolts, what dictates what faction the province joins post revolt? I've had provinces all of a sudden show up as being mine once in a while.

I think this would ROCK is the Lusitanians could randomly get a toehold in Hybernia in this manner, after a hyberian revolt against the Casse.

I *think* there is a "settlement creator faction" specified in some file... every settlement has a "creator", when it revolts it goes to that faction.

I think I've read this somewhere but I wasn't interested in changing the file, so I forgot most of it :P

Settlements will revolt to whoever built the core building (governor's palace). These are all setup for the starting settlements, which are usually the owner of the closest faction to the rebel settlement. There is a different setting for what faction is in control when the core building is upgraded, so that the starting faction and the faction after a rebel upgrade can be completely different. (For example, Arse starts out Lusotanna but if the rebels upgrade the city level it will be Koinon Hellenon.) If you take a town and upgrade the level, it will then rebel only to rebels. But if that town is then taken by the AI and rebels from them, there is a chance it will rebel to you.

In Ireland, the top settlement rebels to Casse and the bottom one rebels to Aedui for some reason.

That's kinda strange, because as the KH, I've had Sinope rebel to me several times after the Ponts take it and fail to keep it. how do you explain this?

Some people say I'm heartless. Shows what they know. I have three in a jar on my desk!

KH is the default faction of Sinope. The rebellion takes place in Sinope before Pontos upgrades the core building, thus it rebels to the default faction: KH.

They didn't upgrade the governer's house? Besides even that ain't the exact formula, but its a good indication of who its going to rebel to.

In a 1.0 game, I had a city in the Far East, Taxila possibly, revolt to either Hayasdan or Pontos, which was a bit weird. Presumably this was due to a mistake in assigning a building to a faction?

Probably rebelled to Pahlava - they are the default culture since we wanted eastern looking buildings in those Indian cities (instead of greek ones).

It's weird...In my Aedui campaign, I gain a getai village (don't remember the name, north Pella) without doing anything, and several territories were separating my new village from my eastern one. That broke my alliance w/ KH, and they declared me war. They try to attack, but they have been destroyed by my pretty free army there.

Anyone know what happen? (Getai are still alive, and are my ally)

Was it Tylis? Tylis was occupied for a while by the Galatians, before they moved on to Galatia. Judging by the fact that you can recruit Galatian and Celtic units in Tylis, I gues a couple of Celts decided to stay.

I've enjoyed watching Galatia rebel to the Arveni in my campaign.....funny to see Arche Seleukia at war with the Arveni!

We have to give all cities a culture and creator association (with another existing faction), so some places like India and the celtic Balkan states and Galatia and nubia and such will end up rebelling sometimes to factions you don't expect would have anything to do with them. We would like them to rebel to eleutheroi status, but they won't always do that. We just have to try and pick the most appropriate ones we can - don't think of those cities that rebel to you under those situations as "yours", but as allied to you. I suggest always putting type4 govts into them for sure. That should be one of the most solid rules for roleplaying EB actually.

(may turn this response into an FAQ entry)
