Thread: artilllery!

    Default artilllery!

ok so i know how the romans get their artillery yadayada but i also seen places that that can capture artillery meaning capture the buildin that makes it from another faction.
i understand how that would work but the makes had a lot of artillery and ive now taken over every single one of the settlements they had: and no artillery. how do i get it besides doing the marian reforms?

Sometimes when you capture a settlement you can use the local conscription building that was already there. Artillery comes from the factional barracks. These can almost never be used by the conquering faction.

If you build a lvl5 local MIC in greece I believe you get artillery.

Yeah, in some Hellenic cities you do. Just check the Recruitement Viewer and see for yourself.

If you have the marian reforms then you will be able to build siege weapons at the appropriate level of your factional MIC.

Build a level 4 government in there (which spawns a client ruler). Then upgrade your local MIC to 5.

No. Before the Marian reforms they are built in the native MIC, after the marian reforms they become available in Italy through the Factional MIC.

I just checked the RV and, correct me if I'm wrong, but artillery in Rhodos is available with complex 1 (Camillan/Polybian factional barracks) at level 13 and 14 (level 3 and 4 barracks after the Polybian reforms), which since it's outside Italy is impossible to build. So you will never be able to build artillery in Rhodes as the Romans.

ok i understand but than its a bug more or less of the recruiment viewer. so is it possible at all to build artillery outside of italy? if not is that hisotrically accurate?

No, it isn't possible (just checking the RV). As for the historical accuracy, I'll leave that to someone more knowledgeable.

You'd have to edit the recruitment lines in the export_desc_buildings.txt (most changes to the EDB are savegame compatible). Though be careful, that file is quite complex and is easy to mess up.
