Well, we've gone back in time. Good thing it's reopened again.

Gentlemen. It's time I put a serious note to this Tavern. Jokes aside, this thread has already been closed down twice. One unfairly, but the second time well and truly deserved. I'm disappointed, as are several others of us, I know, in the behaviour of the other Taverners who took part in that little verbal fracas, now deleted. These even included the Council of Ten, Taverners who've been here the longest, and ought to know that we have here something precious and special.

Let's just set a rule here, please. You know and I know that there is absolutely no way of enforcing this rule. But I am hoping that as fellow users of this tavern, and as members of a community that is independent and usually left to our own [explosive] devices though still under close watch, we can be more responsible, for the good of everyone else.

In short: Don't selfishly get carried away by emotions and/or agendas and end up getting the Tavern closed down. It's bloody inconsiderate for the other people who didn't want to participate, or who didn't ask for this.

So it's simple. No baiting of anyone else in terms of politics and religion. And no rising to take the bait either. These are the two things that always start off the thing. If I see it, I will definitely step in if it gets out of hand. If anyone else sees it, they should step in also. If the argument is interesting and civil, by all means we will carry on. But having been locked and having seen other threads being locked, we should at least now know what the limits are, and exercise due discipline.

It's obvious that the Taverners can't exercise self-discipline. Ibrahim, hooahguy, I'm talking about the two of you in particular. But in general, we are all guilty of this some time or other. So let's all step in and take ownership of this Tavern's operation. Keep each other in check, impose some discipline. That's the way to go.

For all our sakes, please be civil. This is not the real world where problems are in front of you and won't go away. If you don't discuss it here, no one will less of you for refusing to answer or be goaded, and for refusing to start a Tavern Brawl.

This is not 'my two cents.' This is my ground rule. I'm sure many here are heartily sick of seeing the Tavern locked, and will agree with me. You must adhere by the rules, even if you do not agree with them, or the day will come when we will be locked again. And mark my words, that day will come even sooner now. We've already been locked twice. The third time will happen even more easily. Please be responsible.

i agree pez- i, along with a few others, acted like two-year olds.
i propose a ban on talking politics-
all who agree say "aye"
we need to put that behind us and move forward.

on another note, how about the competition? too bad the latest entries were erased.
if a moderator can put up the 2 entries that would be great.

we all need to help maintain order....
its a group effort. its like asking a 10 year old to control a class of 4 year olds who are rasing cain.
but if there were, lets say, 15 ten-year olds to control the class, thats s/t different.
PS- all of us also need a boost for what happened....
