Default messed around with the trait file with no experience...

sigh, like an idiot i started messing around with the trait file with no experience, trying to have one trait become a "super trait" of some sort with 10 command, law...etc. but now the game wont load my saved game or start a new game and just CTD's when i try either (it loads normally). I reversed all my changes, but the problem still occurs. Should I just reinstall and start from scratch?

I'd suggest in general making backups of files you mess around with. It is possible Notepad left a residue.

If the file in question has no fixes (see bovi), then the easiest thing to do is to use 7-zip to manually extract that file. A reinstallation would probably be a bit too much.

Thank you, I downloaded the trait file from Bovi's 1.1 fixes, and now the game works perfectly again. I have also backed up the file so I can safely expiriment again.

Note that 7-zip doesn't work with the 1.1 installer.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.
