Turn FOW off, check a Baktrian FM for Hetairoi Kataprhaktoi; or a Hayasdan one for Elite Cataphracts (not kinsmen cavalry!); or a Pontic one for Hetairoi/Hellenic Cataphract style bodyguard.

Hmm, now I'm the idiot, checked the various bodyguards, and the recruitment roster in Pella, and the March of Time has already happened. I just don't remember it.

    Par exemple:

So there's a bigger problem. Why aren't Makedonia recruiting reformed phalanxes? All they're churning out are crappy levy ones and classical hoplites.
It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
    Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

Because the AI thinks given its current situation it's more prudent to use the dirt-cheap, yet quite effective levies...

In short: the AI is acting smart on the strategical level (for a change); but that will not help much if it doesn't equal its strategical foresight on the tactical level too...

I think the problem here is that while the reform does happen, the "March of Time" message doesn't pop up. I for one have never seen that message either, despite getting the reforms in multiple campaigns - although I play using BI.exe and so I used to think that that was the cause.

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

I think the "March of Time" message pop up only for Romani ....

    Greetings dudes,

Regarding Epherios, do their Thoratikai and other elite melee troops require the march of time event?

I'm playing V1.0 and have the top gov and barracks in my capital, and can build the elite pikes, but only their weaker flank support units.

    Cheers.

Don't think Epeiros have any MoT-triggered units. That's just the AI being stupid and recruiting rubbish. I have that problem with Makedonia, which only has reformed phalanxes now because I used create_unit to give them some.

Which file exactly controls the trigger for March of Time?

From FAQ All other factional reform units are tied to the "March or Time" event (Vanilla Marian Reform) which requires the Romans to build a huge city in central Italy to trigger. This is just an arbitrary time delay.

TY Atanamir, I am very familiar with what the trigger is. However back to my original question, I want to know what file controls it so I can edit them.

There is no file that controls the trigger. It is hardcoded. Thus the reason it still tied to the Romans building a huge town, even in EB.
