I was curious on how it was better or worse. The only thing I hear about it is that factions use naval invasions, is there any other good/bad things about using BI.exe?

Frankly, I couldn't get it to work right with BI.
"I could be bounded in a nutshell, and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams." -Hamlet, II, ii
"Historians and others attempt to pin the tail on the reluctant monkey of change." -excerpt from a real college essay, from Ignorance is Blitz by Anders Henriksson
Getting EB to work with BI (as in adding schiltrom to some units, etc.) is somewhat complicated if I understand correctly, but you shouldn't have a problem getting EB to work with the BI exe. following these instructions. At least I didn't. As for your question blado, think the BI exe. also makes some minor improvements to the campaign AI's behavior, but I'm afraid I couldn't elaborate on that.
Blado, I played all previous versions to 1.1 on BI.exe.
And the main difference was the new naval ability of the AI.
Punic wars would start earlier, and more efficiently.
Rhodes, Crete and Sicily were frequently battlefields.
And because of the new method of attacking, I saw things such as the Romans losing Syracuse to the KH in rebellion, and then counter-attacking the KH holdings on the Crimea.
However, it did mean that whenever I wanted to play multiplayer, I had to uninstall everything - and I am a fan of multiplayer.
In addition, I no longer use it because apart from the naval attacks, no other great advantages are obvious - and 1.1 is on par with 1.0 BI.exe now anyway.
Alright, I'll stay with rtw.exe. Is the way to connect to multiplayer the same as 1.0 and earlier versions? I noticed we had a multiplayer shortcut now.
Multiplayer changes the EDU - you may notice in "Singleplayer" custom games your units are all out of place - use Multiplayer for custom games and - should you chance by it - multiplayer.
I don't think the naval invasions were worth it, myself. After a brief foray with bi.exe I went back to rtw.exe. All it mean was Qarthadast never stopped sending these pointless little armies to achieve nothing but prolong the war with me. That was once I'd trashed the full stacks they sent a few times when the war was supposed to be going on.
I'd rather use move_character to get them to attack me when necessary.
It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR
I don't like using the console to cause action and do something the other factions don't want to do (even though they are stupid). Also I'm not good with the console and for me it takes away from the realism choosing where and if your enemy will attack you. Also, on hamachi, even when it connect to eb00 or eb01, it says I'm offline as my status.

I find very little "realistic" about the AI behaviour (especially with regards to ceasefires...) so I feel no issues in using the console to mess around with things.

the AI also does stupid things with BI. When i played with pontos Epeiros, KH and macedon kept sending armies to attack sinope even though they weren't even at my border![]()

That's the problem with BI's AI; the sea becomes a de facto border in the AI's considerations. Thus anyone you share a sea lane with might decide to attack you for no reason at all.Originally Posted by anubis88

But if u start the preferences shortcut (or config shortcut, cant really remember) and if u then select rtw.exe combined with mp u should be fine right?Originally Posted by Glenn
Absolutely bally right on my Yolk Kleptomaniac, and good to see your interest in Multiplayer.
It does do naval invasions, but sometimes you just question the intelligence of these invasions.
The Ptolemies were losing to the Seleukids in Asia Minor (lost Sardis, lost Tarsos), and somehow conjured up half a stack of levies to attack me (Romans) in Korinthos on BI.exe .
But don't they use naval invasions without BI.exe in 1.1?
That is com-shilly-weetly correct, Blado, they do just that.
They can ship-build like Noah, and pack so many little units on board.
No need for BI.exe anymore - Alex.exe has it's advantages though.
I'm not buying it however, if you catch my driftwood.

When I tried to install it back in 2007 it wasn't compatible with my RTW for some reason, and after they supposedly made it compatible it still didn't work.
Better watch with what u say, the moderators seem to have anti-subtile goggles around here.Originally Posted by Glenn
Rarely if at all. BI.exe does BUT what it seems to do is make virtual links between certain provinces so will treat it in the same way as if they shared a land border making the AI seem to be more "realistic" and agressive. It does make you have to spend more effort placing garrisons in provinces that you could likely strip bare with the rtw.exe or make navies to beat off the occasional invasions. I find it useful simply because of the need to spread your troops around making it a tad harder since there are less available for offensive actions but not much harder.Originally Posted by blado
