Thread: Seleucid Family Member causes Crash

Default Seleucid Family Member causes Crash

I play 1.1 version with deleted client ruler script, i.e. if gouvernment type 4 is chosen, no client ruler is created (to avoid the well-known ill effects).

In my recent sauromatae campaign i encounter a persistant crash around 235 b.c. obviously caused by a seleucid family member dying and leaving his bodyguard unit behind which causes the "unit inside of unit" bug or whatever it is called (the garrison of the town is lead by a unit shown as flag).

Since i know the cause of the crash, can anyone explain me a workaround for that occasion? I tried to avoid the bug by bribing the city a few years before the FM's death, without success: I choose the character, move him out of the city, the icon of the character falls dead to the ground as soon as his movement ends, and the game crashes to desktop.

Since i want to continue this very nice campaign, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Creative solution to bribe him, shame that it didn't work. Anyway, you can survive a army-within-an-army. Make sure to teleport it away to a faraway island when it moves out of the city. You can also take control of the faction in question and move it out of the city so you can do the teleportation.

As i said, as soon as i move him he dies on the end of his movement and game crashes.

I never managed to teleport any character, it always says "character not found" - do i have to put the name in paranthesis? Add the title, i.e. captain, faction heir, faction leader? Add a space?

    Thanks for your help,

    it should be :

    move_character "character name"

if xou have a Hellene with three names it should be:

    move_character "Firstname Secondnamethirdname"

[be aware to capitalise the begining of first and secon name but not the beginning of the third name

It crashes when you bribe him and move him. Does it still crash if you don't bribe him before moving? As said, take control over the faction he belongs to and move him out.

In the meantime i started a Hayasdan campaign, meeting the same bug, announcing itself by suddenly showing a Qhardastim flag above a seleucid city, meaning the family member has died.

I proceeded as in the "frequently encountered issues" file with console_command control etc. A savegame a few years earlier sees the "family member" in question alive -> i moved him from the city and tried to teleport him to some island. It failed, the name always seemed wrong (teleporting other characters worked though). When he left the city, he turned into a cartagenian FM when his move ended. So i took the garrison and killed him. After that, the town still showed him as Governor. He disappeared from the city screen when i moved another family member in.

So far so good, i hope this works. Thanks again for your help.
