What is wrong with this?

I want to play as the senate, and I have made some changes. I have shorten the family tree, add more units, more money, and give the other roman families more money. When I start the game up, it shut down.

This is a pretty old and beat-up subject...

There are some things hard-coded for the Senate that will cause CTDs if you try to play them. The same is also true for rebels.

Basically it won't let me, but I have done it before. I just can't remember how. Few weeks ago, I download SPQR 6.4 (something like that). I should let me play as the Senate.

Just because something is called "The Senate" doesn't mean it's using the roman_senate faction slot.

Indeed, it sounds like SPQR has renamed another faction slot to make the senate. romans_senate is CTD prone.
