Any changes to the trait file are not save-game compatible.
Thank you for the quick reply, and yes it made sense of course that that was the cause of it, but I was confused by the all the strange question marks in the sweboz campaigns I have started both before and after applying the fixes, any thoughts on what might cause this?
I must confess I haven't checked that the Sweboz special characters show correctly. I believe they do though; otherwise I'm sure Blitzkrieg80 would strangle whoever touched the file last. I wouldn't know why the unicode characters aren't showing correctly in your case, but if you've been tinkering with it I think you may have used Notepad? Don't do that. Use a unicode-aware editor instead, like Notepad++ or Crimson.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

No tinkering done sir, aside that already tweaked in the alx.exe compatibility files I downloaded, and if it has any connection whatsoever I know they were all edited using a unicode-aware editor.
Edit: Also, if it is relevant I had no similar problems in EB 1.0 with or without the alx.exe.

Sorry for double-posting, but I just did a complete reinstall and it would seem that it is not due to any errors during the installation; the question marks are still there in many of the traits.
Would any who reads this and finds the time or will to help be as kind as to go start a Sweboz campaign and check if theirs are the same, it should take no more than five minutes as the bug is visible from the very beginning in the traits of your initial family members and it would be very helpful.
I'll check; in the meantime you can fix it manually by opening the files (just open all of the files in the EB\data\text folder as those are all description files) and save them one by one in UTF-8 encoding over their previous non-Unicode versions. In the exact same location mind you; essentially you have to replace the non-Unicode ones with Unicode ones. (And only use UTF-8 at that as characters in UTF-7 depend on your O.S. etc.)
