Default The Most Insane TV show...ever

In the mid 90's Herman José a popular portuguese comedian presented the the portuguese version of "Wheel of Fortune"

The show was on during the afternoon on weekdays and was pretty popular...after 3 year Herman decided that the show had run it´s course and decided to end the show with a bang....literally.

The final episode of 'Roda da Sorte' started with the image of a leather jacked clad Herman José, standing there with a shotgun in his hand.

    interested yet?

during the show and while the 3 contestants tried to guess the words and win some money Herman proceeded to shoot the entire content of the prize list, the letter panel of the show, etc.

It is most crazy thing I have ever seen on tv....

*this was posted on the backroom since it shows dangerous behavior, irresponsible use of fire-arms and a total disregard for tv etiquette....ohh and it´s also made of awesome!!! *

the show is obviously in Portuguese and you guys won´t understand the jokes...but I think this half hour of tv has such a surreal and insane feel that it can be appreciated by anyone

have you ever seen a game-show host pick up a shotgun and start blasting at the prizes and studio decor?

    well...you´re about to.

    part one
    part two
    part three

what´s the most insane thing YOU ever saw on tv?

Wow. That is insane. I only had time to watch the first 5 minutes (2 shots). I can't even imagine something like this happening in the US...at least not without SWAT team involvement.

Well I can't watch videos right now since Adobe wont let me download Flash Player.

But that guy is a legend, I wish we got presenters like that here in the UK. Maybe one day big Bruce will pull out an AK and gun down everyone on Strictly Come Dancing.

And TuffStuff, the story in your link is really tragic, I'm lost for words ... wow.

That has to be the best argument against gun control I have ever seen, at least for game show hosts. The looks on the contestant's faces are priceless.

I happened to watch a panel debate in 1984 when one of the participants started a fight and shots were fired. Here's a clip of the incident.

The Indonesian-looking guy behind the table is Paul Somohardjo, a Surinamese politician who fled the country after a failed coup in 1982 and got asylum in The Netherlands.

The other guy behind the table is Wormer, a supporter of the Surinamese regime against which the coup was directed. When Somohardjo qualifies the regime as 'murderous', Wormer's chauffeur, who is in the audience, intervenes on his behalf.

Somohardjo ridicules the chauffeur, saying: 'He's just boasting, he wouldn't dare say that outside the studio.' The chauffeur threatens: 'Want me to beat you up? I can do it right here!' and Somohardjo goes: 'Well, bring it on!'. And off they are on what appears to be a decent bar-fight.

Only one of the guys has also brought a gun, though it has never been established who, and toward the end (1.45) a couple of shots are fired behind the scenes. One guy was wounded. The programme, which was about to be axed, saw its ratings soar and was continued for several years...

But Tuff, that wasn't a TV show.

Edit: technically, Ronin let your entry in with the last sentence of the OP. But I think he meant to discuss insane shows.

I think someone could think up of a kick ass gameshow where the contestants could embarras local politicians to the point of suicide. Think of the possibilities here!!!!

Default AW: The Most Insane TV show...ever

Funny show, too bad I don't speak Portuguese. I did enjoy the Python reference: "and now for something completely different" as well as the many "hasta la vista amigo"s.

    Hey man, nice shot....
Had to go and listen to it right after watching the video as well. The song is a lot more intense with that image in my head.

And if we are talking about Insane TV shows it only takes a few searches on U-Tube to bring up insane, though not graphic Japanese Game Shows. From button controlled groin hitting machines to fake massage chairs and porta potties that end with embarrassing rides in the public.

Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.

Fine sig, Spmetla. That happens to be one of my favourite novels. There is no better illustration of how even the best plans in the world always get ****** up because everyone concerned turns it into his own plan.

Yossarian attended the education sessions because he wanted to find out why so many people were working so hard to kill him. A handful of other men were also interested, and the questions were many and good when Clevinger and the subversive corporal finished and made the mistake of asking if there were any.
