    Default Badmouthing?

So, how often have you badmouthed your peers? Be sincere.

I'm asking this question because just today His Highness Aga Khan came to our school and gave a speech. I asked 2 questions, but one of them was deemed stupid by some people, and now I've become again the trash talk of the entire school. Any causes for this? ( ok, I am histrionic and some people are annoyed, but that doesn't explain...)

I tried not to badmouth people, though there were times I did if they did something stupid or because my friends were talking trash about someone.

Yes, of course, but often it is through stupidity/misunderstanding rather than an intention to hurt.

What do you mean, bad mouth your peers? You mean argue/shout at/take the piss out of your mates?

    If so, yes, daily...

I find that taking down about people you know is a habit that feeds on itself. I know some folks excuse it as "blowing off steam," but in my experience it doesn't work that way. Negative talk leads to more negative talk, not a clearing of the air.

In RL I try not to say anything when I'm unhappy with someone. It does no good to jabber about it. I follow the dog trainer rules -- ignore behavior you dislike, praise behavior you want. Amazing how well it works on people.

    Ugh.

In general, I dislike doing so and make a concious effort to avoid it. However, every once in a blue moon it is amusing, and I'm definitely not above listening to a bit here and there.

My wife on the other hand gossips nonstop, and it's bit her in the rear more than a few times, and she gets her feelings hurt or whatever and complains to me about it. It finally got to the point where I told her that I didn't want to hear about it anymore, because she knows better yet she does it anyway, and it's just annoying because she knows what's eventually going to happen (again and again). I do it all the time... either right to them or in a way were they can tell I'm not toooo happy with their actions lol.

O and don't be worried about what they say. The more you worry about what they say...the more problems you'll have. Just blow 'em off. O and what did you ask that pissed 'em all off? If I may pry.

I asked Aga Khan 2 things "How far do you think 11th of September ignited a spark of the USA against Muslim countries such as Afganistan and Iraq?" and the second "WHat do you think is the best way to reform governments such as the one in Myanmar? Military or diplomatic?".

I don't know what's so stupid about this, but it's not my fault they are ignorant about the world around them.

Reminds me of when a very patriotic (in a British sense) man with something to do with the military gave a presentation at my school, went into a bit of history etc.

So one of my friends, who was an Irish Catholic, asked a question about some of the events in Ireland during the Troubles. Won't go into detail since its more Backroom material. Being of Northern Irish descent I would probably have jumped to the man's defense, but I'm far too shy.

Anyway, the man got pretty annoyed and said he was going to "wipe that stupid smirk" off my friends face.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.
