Thread: Kingdoms Patch doesn't work

    Default Kingdoms Patch doesn't work

I might be doing something wrong here...

I already had my game files unpacked (for modding) before I applied the update. I updated my game to 1.05 and it says this in the game options area.

But I reloaded a saved game and my Teutonic Order Faction Leader still shows the same model as the other generals on the campaign map. I don't get that cool model when you first start up a game.

Does this update not apply to old saved games?

AFAIK you have to start a new campaign to get any of the changes. Not save game friendly I am afraid.

So does that mean I have to unpack the game files all over again?

The patch says it fixes some attack and defense values for some units.

If you are using the io first-first switch, meaning you have changed some text files like the EDU; yes

I've heard it is savegame compatible but I don't know for sure because I did a fresh install of both M2TW and Kingdoms and let the game patch itself before installing 1.5

Ohhh man, that's going to suck.

I know they changed some fort in the brittania campaign. Can somebody tell me what it is exactly?

I want to fire up a game now and after I re-do the unpack to make sure the update applied successfully.

(My Teutonic campaign is probably ruined, but I want to start a new Brittania campaign.)

From what I heard, it was the Crusades forts they fixed.

One of the quickest ways to see if the patch works is to start a Crusade game, play as KoJ, check your building browser, and see if you can build a King's Stables. Because they can't in the normal Kingdoms game.

    So I did a test.

I ran the old version of Crusades and saved a game. (I know because I could not build the Kings Stables) Then I unpacked the files again and reloaded the save game. Low and behold, I could build the Kings Stables.

On the surface, you think the new update is save game compatible with old versions, but it's not really.

I unpacked the Teutonic campaign files again and tried to reload my old saved game (from version 1.4), but my Teutonic Order faction Leader still does not have that unique character skin/model.

So it looks like the models/skins have to be set before you start a campaign.
