I know about nightmares but comon!

Iv had bad dreams before, the classic "falling into the black hole" or being hunted through the forest ones. But last night I had the one to beat them all. And its actually pretty disgusting. If I believed dreams had any meaning, then id be scared.

The dream takes place like a documentary. I can only see the tv screen and nothing else. The movie is basically a story about a tribe (A modern one, not a primitive tribe like on the discovery channel) that was genocided. The documentary took me through the lifes of various people, some good people, and some bad.

Long story short; The tribe lost a war, and the winners were determined to kill them all. The men and woman were seperated, and the documentary switches to a barrack room with the woman and children. Most were scared, but some were enjoying the last few minutes of their life, and were having as much fun as possible.

Then they went into the gas chambers and they all died a horrible death.

Im guessing its not normal to have dreams like this. Should I be concerned?

You shouldn't. You know, you are scared of that or something.

I have had dreams about my city being destroyed by the effects of radiation, and few people being alive but without being able to touch anything. Those kind of dreams started to appear when our phisics teacher told us that the nearest nuclear plant (150 km) had nuclear scapes. Or I get easily scared when I see planes flying in this city, due to the same reason.

I used to have the reoccuring dream about not graduating High School, and I had it for years and years, and apparently one night I just screamed out "**** You! Monsters!" My wife was quite taken aback, and frightened so she woke me up, and I told her I had that same stupid dream. But, after that night I never had it again.

If I have very active dreams like somebody running me ( 4 a.m. Hollywood blockbusters) or stuff like that I usually wake up and sometimes I shout or I have a serious shake.

Well I live near a great big rock with a castle on it, though I heard it used to be a volcano. I've had a couple of dreams about it erupting. The kind where you try to run but you move in slow motion (why does that always happen?). One of the more ridiculous ones involved a lava monster.

Another nightmare I've had a few variations of was after 9/11, where planes were just hurtling into every buiding around me. I've also had a similar dream where hordes of pigeons were doing this.

And there was one where a comet was about to hit the earth but nobody seemed to care.

The most common nightmares (that I'll be suffering for the next few days still) are exam related. So many times I dream that I arrive at school or now Uni, and remember I have an exam. Or a look at the question paper and I've no idea what to do.

Dreams are your subconcious mind's way of trying to tell you things it thinks you ought to be paying more attention to. Nightmares in particular are your subcon's mind way of saying to the concious mind "Okay, if you're going to ignore my advice, I'm going to give you something you can't ignore". Think of it as your subconcious now shouting instead of just telling you.

I think you should examine the dream and try your best to remember what elements seemed important in the dream. The tribal nature of the dream? The method used to kill the victims? Typically, you 'know' things in a dream, such as which details are important and which ones aren't.

Once you have a list of important elements, start trying to think through a story that unites those elements. I have dreams about my teeth rotting, crumbling, and falling out of my mouth. It took me a while to figure out, but it was my subconcious mind's way of telling me not to be so harsh with the words I use with people when I get angry. And I had one about having AIDS one time. No, I wasn't gay in the dream. In a way, that was kind of the point... that I was being too judgemental on people with AIDS, gay or straight. And I have one A LOT where I get blown up by a timebomb. Usually means I'm taking too much on and feeling under the ticker...

I remember in the dream knowing that the tribe or the tribe killing the tribe was somehow jewish. Maybe the dream was based on some of the genocides that god commited in the bible? Following what you said, the best thing I can think up is "Even if its just a tribe, its still genocide".

I always have some sort of nudity or soft-core porno in my dreams. Even in the dream I told about, their was some (I just choise not to say it).

Analyse this:

You're walking home through a dense forest, there are a great many vines about.
Clumsily, you trip through one - only to find it a brightly-coloured, poisonous snake.

The creature's bite, you avoid - and on your hands and knees you scramble forward - coming face to face with a snake which whips you upon the arm.
You stumble back, and forth, and each step takes you right into the path of a newly-coloured, more vicious snake - and the others now move out of their way to attack you.

Snakes cover the ground of the bushland - like a writhing carpet now - and you try and leap over them, placing your legs within the gaps, but they soon close and your leg becomes trapped as each snakes bites your leg, some coming high enough to grab your back.

Breaking forth of those on the ground, you scramble up against a tree, and are hit and battered around the face as more hang from above - and you fall amongst the seething mass on the group, strange and hideously striped and coloured bodies covering you and constantly whacking you at every opportunity.

When at last no avenue of escape presents itself, and your heart from the desire to leave that place behind begins to pound excessively - and when you manage to bring your head high enough above the striking that you can make out the many thousands of deadly serpents that surround you - then you realise your body's adrenaline fails you - and death sets in.

And as your lungs struggle to set aside the poisonous affects of so many - each horrendously painful bites - you awake.

A recurring dream of mine, I've had it perhaps seventeen times.

It's rather difficult to show in words just how psychologically harrowing that disastrous situation is - and how painful each bite is - not only the feeling, but the very sound of that wallop against you.

My last weird one involved a bus full of cannibalistic Chinese children picking up hitchikers or travellers.

Also dreams reflect that you are worried for something. When I was going to see the oftalmologist, I dreamt that I was going to use lens... everytime!

My favorite returning night mare happens like this(it takes anywhere from the whole 8 hours of sleep or the 30 minutes between snooze button hits)

I start off standing in the middle of no where and suddenly a bunch of people run by me. I'm like wth.. I turn around and see a bunch of raptors and t-rexs chasing people down and killing them. I run into (what ever school i happen to be going to) and lock all the doors. I go into my favorite teachers classroom and press a button on the wall. A bunch of tables flip over with guns on them. Im locked and loaded after grabbing what I could but when i run outside everyone is back to normal and the government finds me and says 'Yourr going to kill this guy' So I go and find this guy. And up to this point the dream is always the same way on how I get in. I dress like a janitor and walk up right past him. Now this is where it changes on me. I either push a brick off through a hole in the floor and it hits him and he dies or it hits him and he lives. Then if he lives i keep dropping bricks. Once hes dead i wake up. Its really really really wierd, cause usually after i wake up i feel like ive been running all night and my legs are killing me.

I had one in like...4th or 5th grade where I was in this roundish room, with red walls or bricks and a big window at the end. I was back in the opposite corner of the room scared for my life as this black ooze or whatever was floating back and forth around in like in Anime whatnot. There were also glass cases with things in them and I couldn't see in them. Scared the **** outta me and I woke up. Last summer in early June, I was visiting the Smithsonian Institute I turned around and broke into a cold sweat. Was weird.

Dreams, I believe are just a superlative form of what is on our subconcious. If we're terribly worried about something, we'll dream about that, that dream might even be a nightmare if we have no idea how to deal with it.............I have often had nightmares about having fatal motorbike accidents, or some where I'm all alone in a vast dead city with no one else..........
Why, once I had really fallen for a girl but had not been able to talk to her about it for a long time, then one night I dreamt she was with another man and was leaving the country forever and I couldn't do anything becaue my mouth was sewn up and would not open......I ran after them as they vanished and she suddenly turned and called to me but try as I might I could not run fast enough to reach her.......and then I woke up.

Dreams are truly fascinating in my opinion. Just closing your eyes can create such a vivid and lifelike time. It's interesting, but I wish we knew more about them.

Lately with drought in my region cochroaches enter houses anyway they possibly can. I absolutely HATE cochroaches (other bugs I don't mind much, but these I hate) and I've had 3-5 dreams about them in the last 2 weeks where I've woken up and can't go back to sleep. I hate them

I had a pretty good dream going on this night. I was out skiing in some competition or whatever, and had some scotch to go(of course), but then I got into an old Caravelle and drove around for some time with another dude, until I got pulled over by a couple of cops for drunken driving...

The times I wake up from dreams, it's usually just when I'm about to get busted for drunken driving...
