Yes, and the Germanic Pike Fence
The word on the street says they did.Originally Posted by NeoSpartan
well.... I hope they still preform well in battle.
I'll test them once my exams are over.
They look and fight much better now. Don't forget the guard mode.Originally Posted by NeoSpartan
EDIT: But they just can't PUSH, I really missed the shieldwall formation.

Something strange about wild men of the north in a perfectly disciplined well-ordered block formation anyway if you ask me. :) When I play a barbarian faction, I just line up my troops and charge into the fray, never bother with tactics. Sometimes my army is mutilated, sometimes they just swarm the enemy. A true warlord has no time to bother with micro-managing a battle. Chaaaaarrrge!

as stated by Russia Almighty it is innaccurate to display those units in phalanx mode, even though the term phalanx is listed in English to denote shieldwall. This was also done only because they DO perform well in battle- this was our primary concern next to historical and was well-tested, although not the same because RTW mechanics are the way they are... for the Germanic phalanx-like pike unit, it is awesome, esp. combined with very_hardy... they truly represent an elite unit now and cavalry better run fast because they certainly can! =o)
the mobility is one of the distinguishing aspects of these units, similar to hoplites... in fact, wouldn't it be wrong to portray hoplites differently, more mobile and less phalanx-like versus barbarians, predecessor of macedonian phalanx?
