    Default Argaisa - Total War

a mod for Rome Total War- Barbarian Invasion

link to modrealms forum (thanks Amroth) : http://www.modrealms.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26

In the faraway land of Argaisa (Ar-gay-sa), war is brewing. For long ages beyond memory, the men of the Haldiac Empire and the Agrovani of the Sacred Forest have been at peace. Those who might intend them ill are on the other side of the great Juhgyi Desert. But now, war is in the air. Word has reached the inhabitants of these lands that the eternally fighting nations of the east have been united by a mysterious, dark figure. His name is unknown, but the legends of his dark power cast fear into all who hear. This fear has been increased by the recent deaths, attributed to natural causes, of many of the leaders of the Haldiac Empire and the Agrovan. Many beleive these deaths were caused my a band of assassins in leauge with the Dark Power of the East. Several defeats were inflicted on the Haldiac Empire my desert nomads, all bearing a mark never seen before.

But, just when hope seemed lost, a force believed to be only a legend appeared from the mists of time. The Guardian Order, long rumored to have fallen long ago, has returned to fulfill its purpose of defending the west against the powers of the Dark Isle. The beleaguered Agrovani and Haldiac Empire quickly gave their support to the Order. Now the west is at least somewhat better prepared to face the forces of the east. But the Guardians, while great fighters, are few and number and will need to be supported by the powers they protect if they are to succeed

The stage is set for the great fight over the land of Argaisa. This fight can only be a war of total destruction of one side, the Light or the Dark. This is Argaisa - Total War.

I'm starting small in this mod (I learned that lesson working as a Beta-Tester for Forth Age - Total War) so, for now, there are only two factions:

    The Guardian Order

Formed at the beginning of the world, millennium ago, the mysterious men of The Guardian Order are dedicated to protecting the forces of the west against the evil of which only they have knowledge. Only they know of the inhabitant of the Dark Isle and what he will bring. The Order Faces several challenges, while their army is strong, it is few in number. To face the numberless hordes of the east, they will need to draw auxiliaries from the Agrovani and the Haldiac Empire. These men, while more numerous then the men of the Order, are not as well armed and armored.

    The Minions of Surt

Many eons ago, a renegade named Surt fled from the Guardian Order to the far east of the world. He accumulated much power and prestige for himself in the constant wars that plagued the region. But he eventually realized that he could not take his revenge on the Guardian Order without uniting the factions of the east. And the only way to do that was with fear. So he went on a long quest to find that which was his birthright. A sword: Excelcion. A relic of the past far older than Surt and even older than the Guardian Order. The power it possessed made him more than a man, something far more sinister. With the power he now possessed. Surt united the tribes of the east and is now preparing to take his revenge on the supposedly fractured west, unaware that they have been united by The Guardian Order who know of his plans and his existence.

    The Guardian Order

I, in my inability to model, have been reskinning various units to get what I want. Some units have been majorly reskinned while others have not. I have gotten permission for all the models I use.

    Units of the Order

    Guardian Sergeants
They provide some anti-Calvary support and are the most numerous of the Guardian Orders units.

    Guardian Crossbowmen
These men are the only men of the order who have a ranged weapon, a rather unappreciated weapon. While not as skilled as some, they are a force to be reckoned with.

    Guardian Light Calvary
While heavier than the light Calvary of other nations, these men provide a cheaper, faster, more widely available, and more numerous counterpart to the heavy Calvary

    Guardian Champions
These brave men are true heavy infantry. Armed with a large, two handed sword and covered from head to foot in plate, they are a force to be feared by both armored and unarmored foe alike.

    Guardian Generals Bodyguard
These men are the heavy Calvary arm of The Guardian Order and also guard the generals when they go into battle. These men are the best the Order has to field but they are also the most expensive and the fewest.

    Auxiliaries

    Rangers of the Sacred Forest
Archery has always been the favored sport of the men of The Agrovani. They train with this weapon from boyhood and have learned to effortlessly blend into the land around them. They provide much needed archer support to the order though they are recruit-able in only one province.

    Haldiac Levy Pikes
The Haldiac Empire has always had a tradition of anti-Calvary tactics due to the many raiders of the desert who frequently raid their homelands. They fight in a phalanx which allows them to ward their enemies and fight with light armor to allow them to move quickly.

    And for a little bonus...

This list is in no way finalized, units could me added, deleted, or re-skinned at any moment.

I think you have done quite a good job without being able to model. I especially liked the two handed swordsmen of the Order, and the Haliac Levy Pikes.

So after your initial release, do you plan on expanding the number of factions beyond the initial two (and I imagine generic rebels)?

How many cities/territories will there be?

    Finally a response

As for future plans, I do intend to eventually add more factions (though what they are is a secret).

The number of provinces is relatively small (18) but that could easily change (especially with more factions).

I see you used the BI barbarian UI. I tried doing that, but found an odd bug. If a unit of Screeching Women were in the UI before other units with special abilities, the icon for their abilities would not appear in the UI. Have you seen anything like that?

There are plenty more pictures at the mod realms forums. I haven't updated the ones here as frequently because it is more time consuming due to the required format for posting pictures.
