You mean it just randomly dislocated? Ouch.

My right knee has never healed properly from an older sport injury, but no I've never had anything like what you had!

I hurt my left knee playing American football when I was a kid. Nothing serious but I still have stiffness when I can't stretch out my knee.

They tend to sound sometimes. Since I walk a lot and do excercises, those sounds are gone.

I hurt mine around 15 years ago moving a steel beam. Still stiffens up if I overwork it, but no serious damage. If you have frequent knee problems one of the best solutions is (careful) weight training for your legs. Some doctors will recommend a therapist who can show you appropriate leg excercises to shift some of the stress off of your knee and onto your leg muscles.

I injured my right knee at Rugby and its never been the same since. That was about 8 years ago.

I get that fairly regularly. Hasn't happened for a while though.

Not sure where it came from, possibly an old football/basketball injury.

Indeed. After running 10km though, so it may not have been entirely the post's fault.

Also, if you do see a doctor, let me know what he/she thinks, I've never bothered to get mine checked out.

I think what I get is probably slightly different. It happens when I sit down, the joint just locks in place and doesn't allow for any movement so I've taken to just clicking it back into its normal position.

It's not particularly painful unless I leave it locked for any extended period of time, which happened once in a restaurant but that's a whole different story.

About 4 or 5 years ago I did my knee in playing rugger. Had the so-called 'unhappy triad' - medial meniscus, ACL, Medial Collateral Ligament. Had to have it reconstructed. That came with a 6 months rehabilitation period coupled with intensive physio.

This winter I had a little mishap skiing and did my knee in again. Fortunately, it was only the menisus and the medial collateral ligament that was a bit bollocked. Still a little sore but it's almost entirely healed (as far as I can tell).

Knee injuries are really bad as they tend to heal really slowly and a lot of work goes into rehab. Hopefully, you are not at that stage. Take care of those joints. They are the only ones you have (in the knee region).
