Which Race is the Best?
When adopting, the race of the candidate is very important. The best race should only be picked for the job.
But which race is the best?
I hope in this thread we can collaborate to determine which is the super race for each faction. That way in whatever campaign I play I can guarantee I will only get honest clean-shaven hard working family members, and not club-footed Claudians, seditious Sogdians and drunken Macedonians.

And what about the Romani gens? Most of the patrician families seem to have the same pro/cons except for the obvious booby family, gens Claudia (club-footed, hated by the common people).

When I have to marry one daughter or to adopt some general I usually consider his race trait to accept or reject the candidate.
For example, if I play a greek/roman faction I will not marry my daughter with one man that they would consider barbarian. But maybe I will adopt one barbarian to put it like a governor of a barbarian city recently conquered. But he will never be my faction heir.

In my experience, plebeian Claudii are pretty good in the game.

I may be coming across as a bit of a Claudii fanboy here, but dismissing an ethnicity because they are imperious seems a bit dumb when you are building an empire.
The Macedonians have a good track record too.

The Gens Claudia was not plebeian, but patrician.
They remonted to one sabin Atta Clauso Regillense that went to Rome in the early days of the city.

There were a few plebeian branches that are historically significant.
One of note was that of Marcus Claudius Marcellus, the conqueror of Syracuse during the second Punic war.
I was however talking about the in-game plebeian Claudians. They often turn out to be very good.

In game terms makedonians commanding nomad armies would be awesome 'cos of the pro cavalry command traits they could get.

I think Royal Pontians get an extra wreath of influence straight off the bat? I like Royal Armenians when I play the Hai too.
I quite like the Selentines too, ahead of the Orcs of Kor.

Well you'll grant he wasn't being too clear about what he was asking.
Honestly, though, on-topic, there isn't a 'best race'. They all have their good and their bad members depending on the circumstances of your empire and the random probability generator of the game engine. So it's really pointless discussing this. It's not as if you can control who you get, anyway.
EDIT: And this isn't WoW talk, this is Warcraft and Starcraft talk. :D
