What happened to this mod's activity with the Paradox game Europa Universalis: Rome? I was really looking forward to it.

Wes þū hāl ! Be whole (with luck)!
Well we tried starting something before the game was released, but the project leader (also an EB member) could not be around due to RL issues then the guys recruited to mod EU also seemed to have lost interest, I tried reviving something but it's not looking too bright and I don't have the time to lead a project.
We'd like to find a team of EU modders to consult and give ideas but with everyone on EB2 this as far as we'd go...
I would personally much rather see EBII than EB on Europa Universalis.
I think the market is saturated with Roman games at the moment - plus everyone may be focussing on the In Nomine add-on for EU3.

are you guys sure you won't be helping to improve EU: Rome? I was so looking forward to it. I'll help in any way I can...

It's a shame there won't be an EB mod for EU:Rome, but I'm also relieved, because it means that the nascent Rome modding community isn't suddenly going to be blown out of the water by a much better-organized and informed project ;-)
At the moment there are probably about half a dozen projects being worked on or discussed on the Paradox forums. Some of them are quite specific, others are comprehensive projects. At the moment it's more a case of people modding aspects that they think are interesting, rather than working to an agenda. One of them is a project called SPQR which I am leading, but I won't go into that...
Interestingly enough, most of the people working on EU:Rome modding seem to be new, rather than experienced in modding other Paradox games.
I wouldn't say many of us have any detailed knowledge of the period except what one can find on Wikipedia, and perhaps not even that. So advice on how to make things historical would be very welcome!
The Paradox Rome forums are here:
(I would post the URL but can't because this is my first post)
if anyone waants to drop by. Irritatingly, the modding sub-forum is only available to people who have registered a copy of the game.
Nice to meet you all!
PC Gamer gave EU:Rome a 55% and they are die-hard Paradox fans.

TheLand, welcome to the Org!
By the "Rome modding community", you do mean the EU:R community, right? Because I'm not sure that I'd call the RTW modding community "nascent"...
Dhampir, I saw that Gamespy gave EU:R about 3/5 IIRC and RTW got 4.5/5 or something, so that put me off. Plus people have been telling me at the TWC that EU games are usually full of game-breaking bugs for a year or two after release, so I'll give EU:R a miss, I think.
If you do a search of this forum back a month or so ago, you'll see a couple of threads about EU:Rome and me on a soapbox about Paradox games being released in an alpha or beta state. I feel vindicated now that PC Gamer is on my side.Originally Posted by I Am Herenow

Cough. Yes, I'm used to abbreviating EU:Rome to Rome. And I thought I'd avoided doing so in that post.Originally Posted by I Am Herenow
I wouldn't be too put off by the issues with Rome 1.0 or 1.1 (or, indeed, the issues with Rome 1.2, where the AI handles its manpower in a really sucky way). Problems are there to be fixed. :)
Will any of you guys be helping out the Rome: Enhanced mod? I really like your system of traits and the maps you guys were going to make. I really hope that can still be transferred over to EU:R.
