Main point:

Recently I had read a book called Zero: The biography of a dangerous idea
Can't remember the authors name but for those who really need it I bet a quick google search will find it for you. In the book he briefly mentions the idea of a count down to events. Such as 10... 9... 8... 7... 6.... ....1 Booom! then the universe is gone or reset. What do you guys think of such an idea. The ending of the universe being nothing more than a countdown.

Note! this idea is mention in several movies and books that we all know and love
(ig: Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy[when the demo crews count down to earths end], or in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Space balls.

In many entertainment pieces counting down the last hours minutes or seconds plays a huge role on what we've learned. Either everyone is dead or they stop the timer at the last minute

Well, from what I understand, the current scientific view with the Big Bang model says that our universe will either continually repeat in a cycle or end eventually.

If stellar bodies continue to move away from each other, there will come to a point when everything is so far apart that no new suns can be formed and thus the universe will simply contain random matter splattered through space.

If the expansion slows down and everything begins to go back togeather, another Big Bang may potentially occur and the same thing may occur yet again

I remember learning that theory from K Pax (what a film!) its probably the one i find most intresting but disturbing at the same time.... im doomed to repeat every mistake ive ever made for eternity...
