how can I give a unit orders to RUN to a waypoint and not just walk to it.
    Also,what does ALT+left click do?

    1) shift + double left click
    2) melee attack for missile unit that still has ammo left

I think you can also select the unit(s) and CTRL+R to get them into running, even after issuing a movement command. I used to do that a lot in Shogun as well - I would click&drag a group into a certain rectangle somewhere, and then CTRL+R. They'll shape up and go to the destination in running mode, eventhough they start off in walking mode (and would remain so without CTRL+R)

Yes, but, you cannot do that if they are moving to a waypoint, only if they have a single destination. When you have them move to the waypoints, they will move at the preassigned speed, and you cannot change it any more.

I rather manevour them myself then I have much more control of the unit.

Alt+clicking anywhere but on the enemy affects facing. One (right or left click, not surem it is in the manual) will change facing w/o moving and the other changes place w/o changing facing.

    ALT + left click.

Mentioned in another thread that if you ALT+R and then ALT+L straight after, the troops change facing as they march to their new destination. Quite cool.

True, except that if you last waypoint is an attack order on an enemy unit, even if you shift+double_left_click, the unit will still walk to engage.. both in STW and MTW.

okay, so i have a 16 unit army deployed on the battlefield in a selfmade formation. the enemy tries to outflank me. is there a way to change the facing of the formation, without changing the formation itself??

i mean, using the alt right click will change the facing but also the formation!!

Select the units you want to change facing, i find it's best if they are grouped together, then hold down alt, and hold the right mouse button...you'll see 'ghosts' of your men appear, simply move the mouse until they are facing the way you want, and release the alt and mouse buttons. Voila.

Perhaps not if you group them formally, using the white flags button, top left of the screen.

The answer is yes to first question. Alt+left click will cause iunits not to change facing when they arrive at the destination, and the same thing goes for the groups, that will try to mantain the formation (note that this may cause some of your units to run in order to keep pace with the rest of the bunch). And the usefulness of the waypoints depend on your playing style. I usually use it not for flanking but to get my units behind the enemy, i.e. to avoid the contact in the wide circle. Reduces the amount of micromanagement, and you can dedicate more time to other units.
