If you're running on the original R:TW exe then you could try using Alex.exe (if you have it) as many people have found it to be the most stable. However this won't neccessarily help you with your current game. But may prevent you from having this problem in the future.

If you don't have the Alexander expansion pack it can be found very cheap.

I have just posted a thread here that may be of help. My guess is that it's caused by a rebellion somewhere.

Okay, so I'm going through all the cities to figure out which one(s) is(are) rebelling, and I've found one. So, I tried to use the code, but it says that the settlement is not found.

Do I need to use the name of the original RTW settlements? Or should it work?

Okay, forget about the last post. I figured it out.

But! I have a different question. I got the game to stop crashing, but after I entered in the codes, a few things changed. When I go into battles, the layout of everything is completely different. There is no more bottom bar with all the buttons and the unit cards and everything organized into one spot; instead, the unit cards are on the bottom left, and if I scroll up to the top of the screen, the formations and such appear.

Also (in my friend's game as the KH) when he enters a battle, it will not let him set up his troops before a fight... any of the time. I realize during ambushes you don't get those luxuries, but he doesn't get to do it any of the time.

Any ideas on what's causing that, or how to change it? It very well could be something simple that my stupid brain can't figure out, but either way, help would be appreciated :-).

You'll have to go to EB configuration before you start the game, then click preferences, and unclick minimal UI. That should solve your new battle layout. As for your friend, well, God help him.

I have no idea about the lack of ability to deploy troops, except perhaps his mouse is glitchy and performs an accidental double click. He could try to use enter instead of clicking "deploy troops" with the mouse, perhaps?

Otherwise, I have no real advice for him. He could run the validation of course, but I don't think it will find the cause of this weird behaviour.
