Does anyone else think its annoying that missile units will not shoot routing units unless directly ordered to?

Ya but if you figure most the time they have to run after them, and set up again, and by the time they shoot they are out of range.

    Thats what Cav are for.

I wouldn't mind seeing it as a toggle, but on the whole it's better the way it is. I quite often wind up facing armies 2-3X the size of mine since the AI favors quantity over quality of troops. Once they're routing, the missle unit's job is done - I'd rather conserve the ammo for the next four waves I'm going to face instead of killing people who were leaving anyway. Plus, once the rout gets going, it's usually a hideous jumble of the enemy troops and the shock troops I've got pursuing, more friendly fire casualties in that situation if I keep the missle units firing. So, while I can see situations that I'd want my missle units to just keep pounding anyone in range, on the whole, the default behaviour is the better.

Thats why i want them to fire on routers automatically (with fire at will activated). That way they hold their position and should get one or two more shots off.

Its all well and good chasing them down with cav, but why capture when you can kill? (i know you can execute prisoners but that only works once before the morale penalty kicks in).
