Good people of this hardware forum, i come to you in a dire crisis.

Now ive got that out of the way:

Laptop was recently sat on by someone, that seems to have broken it.

If you push the power button, the power symbol and the battery symbol will turn on, and it will load (1 out of every 250 odd tries) but most of the time all the symbols will light up, then it will shut itself off.

Problem #1: it doesnt start most of the time
Problem #2: When it does start, after a few minutes, it instantly turns off, no warnings, everything just goes black.


Whats going on! Is it the power?

Change the battery of the laptop, it's your first bet.

Both batteries are fully charged, the laptop has to have a battery in to run.

Sometimes one battery wont work, changing it might.

Dad's taken it into work, hopefully it will be ok

Rain it upon me. I love fluffy bears (ok, not pink) and with the terror I can easily deal with.

I suggest you do something with that girl. Not too extreme, but she has to give something in return for that laptop.

moving on from that.

dad got it working all day, brings it home and now it doesnt work at all.

The power symbol will go on for 3-4 seconds, then off.

Apparently Ctrl+Shift+k made it work, doesnt anymore.
