The Russian singer was awful, otherwise the song would have been decent.

The Irish turkey should have won.*

    *No, seriously, Dustin was awsome.
Why did the chicken cross the road?

So that its subjects will view it with admiration, as a chicken which has the daring and courage to boldly cross the road,
but also with fear, for whom among them has the strength to contend with such a paragon of avian virtue? In such a manner is the princely
    chicken's dominion maintained. ~Machiavelli

You gave yourself the answer, nothing more simple than that.

    SO Iron Curtain rebuilt ?

FIne, but this time you are going to live under the totalitarian rule.

Good idea, I maybe propose it (at least for Eurovision).
You already have two German language states (+ a part of Switzerland).

Congratulations Poland! The only Eastern European country stuck with the poor Westerners at the bottom... And congratulations Norway, your song was bad but hey, perhaps they just mixed up their results and the Polish results??

I must admit it has shown everything but a single thing I was talking about. Apparently we voted for ourselves this time.
Even our traditional supporters didn't vote for us this time, well maybe next time.

Good I was watching '24' on DVD and forgot about the show entirely.

I usually watch Eurovision because I like to see what Europe is up to. I assume countries like France and Spain are in the same boat as UK, i.e the artists have accepted they won't win and it would be career suicide to enter while the Eastern countries enter their best acts, is that right?

Anyway all the songs seem generally poor. I had a lot of respect for Turkey (at least I think it was Turkey) because they dared enter artists who knew how to play instruments. I think they were a band. Awesome - actual musicians, shame it wasnt in English, then I may have liked it :( Or not, who knows?

I thought Greece was pretty poor, I couldn't see how it got so many votes.

I hope people don't think UK's entry was what people here listen to. That would be depressing, we have so much better music.

Now I ask this question, if you could choose any singer and song to enter for your country, who would you put in?

I would probably put in 'The Hoosiers' with either Goodbye Mr. A or Worried about Ray because I think the upbeat nature of the songs would win over some eastern votes and because they are real musicians who play instuments AND sing at the same time! Probably wouldnt win though. One of the band is from Stockholm, is that allowed?

Celtic vs Rangers and similar clashes do not really count I am afraid.
Its not a war anyway, they just hate us I'm afraid.

P.S. Latvia was awesome but their song is a football chant! (thats why its awesome)

I give a hundred flying s about Eurovision -while not being a spare-time nationalist here-, I was amazed at the quality of the song they had spared for the contest.

    Lyrics in English as follows:

    Owner of my soul wanted
Have I landed right on ?
The perpetrator of the passion withstands
    Furious and shrinked

    Owner of my soul wanted
Have I landed right on ?
    Withstands, withstands, withstands

Bring me up, don't make me cry
Where is the love you praise yourselves of ?
Bring me up, don't make me cry
Don't put me off with faux dreams

    One wit, one quasi-mad
Wits all around me, a part of me is mad
Everyone is wit, only I am mad
I am the only mad, I am the only mad

Bring me up, don't make me cry
Where is the love you praise yourselves of ?
Bring me up, don't make me cry
Don't put me off with faux dreams

Their Eurovision performance was brilliant as well:

Mor ve Ötesi is currently the most popular rock band in Turkey.

P.S. Here is the download link to the original video clip of the song, from their official website.
