    Default Re: Indiana Jones...

I walked out of the theater trying to convince myself that I didn't hate it, but I failed. I did hate it. The script was average, the acting was phoned-in, and the plot... oh my. The movie had no energy at all. The original movies had a spark that made them feel very improvised (and some parts actually were!). The dialog was natural and easy and the characters felt like real people. This movie had none of that. Almost every single line felt like it was being read dead-pan off of cue cards. Some of the 'stunts' were absolutely absurd. The Indy films were action oriented, but the danger situations were generally plausible (at least, the non-supernatural ones). Not so in Indy 4. The films forces you to suspend your disbelief almost immediately, because it blatantly makes all characters invincible. There is one particular scene early on where Indy pretty much shrugs off a... uh... large explosion... as if nothing had happened. Using such an event as a 'minor' danger that is tangential to the plotline is a travesty.

This is not the Indy I grew up with.
