For now there is not easier way to learn how it works and why.

Nice speech. A bit less simple, but equally interesting (and possibly more promising) is the recent House of Lords report on Russia. You can download a PDF of it here. It seems to be highly critical of "Putinism" I have not read it yet, but I would love to hear your view and that of others of course.
