    Default Nations that grow too strong

    Which nation tends to ussually get too strong, big and rich in the campaigns u play?

    Ptolemaioi, whoever wins the 3-way in the Balkans, Baktria, Sweboz or Saurmotae (whoever gains the upper hand after they make contact).

    Karthadastim, Epeiros, and it's a coin-toss between Seleukids and Ptolemaioi in the East. If Antiocheia falls it's usually for the Arche.

    In the one i'm playing right now (still 237BC, screenshot is in AI progression thread):



    Makedonia has taken all of Greece, including Epeirus starting lands, and is pouring into Asia Minor, so i should think they are very rich and powerful.

    Ptolemoi have ALL Seleukid land west of Babylonia and all of southern Asia Minor, so second to me they seem to have the richest, biggest and most powerful empire.

    The Romans, funnily enough, have taken all of Italy except for Tarentum, haven't tough Sicily, have all of Cisalpine Gaul and most of Gaul itself. They've reduced Averni to 1 province and no armies and have made them a protectorate, and have reduced Aedui to 1 province and protectorate, but they have many armies stood around doing nothing.

    Those are the 3 main ones that are doing well so far. I'm the richest and have all of Britain and 2 provinces in north-west Gaul on the coast, but i'm playing houserules with only 1 army so i don't just steamroll the entire map, which i don't want to do.

    AS or Ptollies in the east.
    Maks or Epeiros in Greece and Balkans.
    Rome - take Italy and some more.
    Carthago.

    In the 1.0 version the Sweboz usually became a northern Juggernaut. But in the current 1.1 version they don't expand so much.

    Yes, never checked the betatester fora? Sauromatae get big & mean nowadays; with possibly only the Hayasdan keeping them from becoming absolute murder. I think the AI feels it need to compensate for it's earlier shortcomings.

    (I've seen the Hayasdan going after the Sauromatae and winning; but on the AI progression threads it's more like the Sauromatae can cope with them reasonably well. Point is there's a lot of rebel territory and the Sauromatae love to do this 'overrun' thing of them. There's also a lot of Sauromatae army compared to their size...)

    Yes, never checked the betatester fora? Sauromatae get big & mean nowadays; with possibly only the Hayasdan keeping them from becoming absolute murder. I think the AI feels it need to compensate for it's earlier shortcomings.
    Of course not. TPC is way too busy with his worship of Arsaces the Whateverst to bother with betatesting.

    Anyways, in my campaigns the Sauromatae usually take the Caucasus area up to Trapezous, Mikra Skythia and Bastarnaia, along with those steppe factions in the north and east.

    Both they have huge armies but they made peace so they became huge and now I am against 2 mayor armies.

    Eastern Greeks!! (AS,Ptolemy,Bacteria(Baktria)) If Ptolemy wins first over AS then Bacteria(Baktria) gets strong too...But if AS win first every one (ptolemy,bacteria(Baktria),pontos, hayastan) are doomed

    Nope. I visited that place maybe twice since its inception, but no more really... If it's true, then it's great news. The Sarmatians should be the de facto steppen-masters (You tools thought I was going to say "step-master" like some stupid TV Shop commercial... ) and they should be able to press the Armenians to defend the Caucasus.

    In fact, the Sarmatians were so bothersome that the Parthians had some difficulties containing them outside the Kura-Araxes; As a result, the later Albanians formed so influential that they pursued to form a clan which would partake in later Partho-Sassanian policies. They should be pestering the Caucasus, they should pester Maeotia, and the Bosphorus and they should pester Dacia. That's not too strong. It's a true demonstration of the striking power of an unpredictable invasion, covering vast areas in no time. On the flipside, the simple nature of their state and their persistent traditions as nomads, would on the other hand make counter-invasions devastating, which seems to be reflected in Hayasdan's successful countering. Otherwise, the Sarmatians dominate the steppes, without any contenders to prove them otherwise (No, you are not permitted to mention the Black Huns of Attila).

    Otherwise the Sarmatians are almost by far, in previous versions at least, one of the most idle factions, which would either lose ground to the Saka, or hide behind the Urals whenever the enemy would strike. If the report is true, then the Sarmatians in EB are starting to live up to their historical name

    Of course, if it's like "omfgshithashitthefan", then it needs to be corrected.

    In all but one of my current campaigns, the major superpowers were always the Seleukids, Ptolemaoi, and Carthage.

    Currently, however, my first Romani campaign has gotten to a strange situation.

    Me: I as the Romani control all of Italy and Sicily, and have abandoned my overseas campaigns and long ago recalled all my armies to defend my territory. I'm also pumping out ships like crazy and hiring every mercenary unit I find. I'm currently at peace after my last current enemy faction fell, but I'm not sure how much longer that'll last...

    Them: The Sarmatians have subjugated the entire northern half of the map aside from a few formally Gallic settlements I currently hold (yep, you read right ), KH has subdued, Makedonia, the Getians, and Epeiros, and are presently slugging it out with the Sarmatians over Pella, the Lusotanians have expanded south out of Iberia, quashed Carthage and have annexed most of their settlements as far as the city south of Carthage itself, and the Seleukids are running strong with Antiocheia still held, in addition to having subdued all of northeastern Africa with a border shared between them and Lusotania.
    And Ptolemaoi, Parthia, Baktria, Armenia, the Sweboz, Arverni, Sweboz, and Saka are all long gone, as well.

    I'm actually kind of... well... scared, at the moment.

    Really? Sweboz isn't doing anything on your game?
    With me it was the other way round, in 1.0 they were slow expanders, but now they are exploding!

    Actually all the factions are doing everything much faster than in 1.0. They have fullstacks with 1/2 elites by 260BC. In 1.0 I didn't see them until at least 20 years later.

    Really, I've played two campaigns with 1.1 (as Arverni and Baktria) and in both of them they didn't expand as before, when they usually took all the Alps, crossed the Rhine and met the Getai in the east.
    Now in one occasion they haven't even conquered Skandia. And in both they haven't crossed the Rhine, and there are still some rebel settlements between the gauls and them.

    In the current version I've seen that some factions do more things than in the old version. KH are busy elsewhere, for example, even in Massilia or in Sicilia, and in some regions in the Black Sea. I suppose that they hold these provinces after some rebellions, but I am astonished.

    I mentioned the Sarmatia because in all three campaigns that I have started, they blitz across the steppe and press Saka and Parthia in the East, and Sweboz, Epiros, and Getai in the west. They capture the Crimean penninsula within five game years, and just keep on going. I have only played about thirty years into my campaigns, and in each of them Sarmatia is one of the big three superpowers... at least until they meet me!

    Aedui always tramples Arverni in my campaign, and since i play historical conquest, they have also gotten the entire Cisalpine area. Ptolemies are also trampling Selucids, but i've sort of slowed them down alot by helping AS financially, and bribing them. Nothing besides that
