I'm going to Rome, Southern Italy, and Greece in the next couple weeks, and I'm going with a couple friends on a tour of the Southern Med. I've heard alot about pick-pockets, so I'm protecting myself as legally possible, but my other question was...
1. Where in Rome can I go for an hour or so, museum/church wise.
2. What about Greece?
3. Any foods you would suggest?
4. Does anyone want to lend me some Euros?
5. Any other suggestions?

Food, dude, coming from the States, just eat anywhere but Mcdonalds. Trust me. If you're going for cheap, there's a set of restaurants in Rome called Tavola Calda - they're pretty much everywhere - cheap and cheerful, and good food.
As of euros, get them ASAP, they way things are going...
After spending there a month, I have not been pickpocketed. Street vendors will try and scam you for everything, but bargaining does the trick nicely. Just try not to look too much like a tourist, and leave the safari gear at home.
Now, does anyone have any suggestions on Lagos, Nigeria? I'll be heading that way in a week or 2...

That and don't get caught on public transit without a ticket. My friend has told me the police are very corrupt and well make you either:
A) Give them 50 euros which they pocket
B) Pay a 250 Euro fine at the station.

Rome is great. You should visit the main area of the Imperial empire. The colosseum of course, but also the Domus Aurea nearby. All the buildings are within walking distance of each other and you can also see the place Caesar was supposedly killed as well as the grave of Romulus and Remus etc.
An hour will not get you far though, but good luck.
You HAVE to go to a small pizzaria in Italy. They have huge pizzas in the back, they'll cut you a piece, fold it together, put it in a pocket and you're on your way. One of the best little snacks.
Try not to get sucked into tourist traps. The little restaurants are great too.
Make sure to get quite a few Euros (though Greece is fairly cheap).

- avoid big crowds with many tourists
- don't wear rucksacks or similar equipment
- don't let yourself be touched by natives (no offense against natives here of course, just precaution)
- food is fantastic in the area, but don't eat "fresh" salat or vegetables, they contain bacteria
- women are best in the area, especially on Crete (big b**bs, yes)

I can give to a tip about Greece. They make a brew called Raki or Chipero depending which part of Greece you're in. The best bit is they are'n't allowed to sell it because of the duty tax, they have to give it away, that's right, free.
Beware though, it is very strong.
Greek food is OK. Stew such as Stifado is good with the Macedonian red. Great after a hard day in the sun.
