Yeah but it's not that bad. There's plenty of fun to be had in it, especially if you fight fire with fire and pack a 203. The only thing I kinda don't like about the game as a whole is the maps feel really close together making sniping a real pain unless you're in one or two of the good spots per map. It's a rush style of game play a lot of times with sub-machine guns/shotguns ruling cqc.

Yea, That whatI heard. Any Medals and that on the game??
There's no medals but there's tons of weapon challenges and ranks. I think it's capped at rank 55, the weapon challenges will probably keep you busy for a while if you really want the good looking weapon camos.

btw my handle is Ragedom and (If you're picking it up for PC) I'm normally found on the server "A FRAGGING GOOD TIME", if you want the IP i'll send it your way in a pm

Yeh it was fun, MP kinda got boring. Needs more maps, and less noobs with MP5s/P90s/shotguns.

    The single-player is good though.

Yes, single-player is exceedingly good, albeit short. And MP could be helped by the release of maps exclusively for the PC, catering towards the larger servers.

Apart from that, MP is quite a fun experience. Mad chaotic firefights that are pretty realistic and fun. Just stick with other people, as opposed to going rambo, and you should be fine.

Mp5, is what I play with because its one of the only effective weapons in CEVO rules. But its been a while since I played a pub game, I mostly do LANS and tournaments now.

I dont understand why people call others noobs for using other types of weapons such as grenade lauchers. If they are there, they will be used. Probably just annoyed they get killed by it :P

Actually I'm rather annoyed by the lack of skill required to use them. Anybody can rack up a bunch of kills with a 'nade launcher or MP5. Yet, you need some skill to get the gold Barret.

My favourite weapon is the C4 though. I love playing LAN games with my mates and getting the highest score using nothing but C4 and the knife.

gold barret? I didn't think there was such a thing. As for the grenade launcher, I have aptly renamed it to n00b t00bin and love to keep track of my n00b to t00b ratio

And people who say that they do bad because they use a gun that requires skill are even more annoying than noobs, why bother using it if they do that bad...

Pff, it's like camping: no skill required.

In CoD 2 you got the PPSH. Now you got...LMG's, a grenade feast, flash bangs, claymores, martyrdom...and the list goes on. After I got the golden AK-47, the fun was out and I don't bother to play CoD 4 MP anymore. (almost)

MP5 takes skill, its weak and its accuracy sucks unless you know how to use it. You just need to know how to combine the perks and attachments to turn it into true power, I can't count the ammount of times I've been called a hacker/banned/noob because I pulled a 89-56 run with just an MP5

Hahah, i just had my first experience with being kicked for 'noobishness'.

I was persistently using martyrdom, and was subsequently kicked for it after a lengthy argument in which i made the other guy rage while i just sat back and laughed like the troll i am.

I honestly don't see the big deal about martyrdom. 70% of the people i kill with it could have saved themselves if A) they had been paying attention to the nade indicator and ran and B) weren't busy teabagging my corpse.

They all kept whining because it would ruin their perfect scores, despite the fact it's just a game, which i and other people i know play for fun, not so that we can wave our engorged e-penis's about and say HEY LOOK I'M A LEVEL 55 ON COD4 WITH ALL THE GOLD WEAPONS.

Ultimately, a hilarious experience for me.

    I'm actually cool with martyrdom.

However on Hardcore mode where you don't get grenade indicators, i do find it a bit cheap. As if it's not easy enough to get kills on Hardcore! But then of course it's only an issue because everyone camps in hardcore mode.

I've been level 55 for ages but I don't have a single gold weapon. I guess it's cuz i have add with my classes and love to experiment with different weapon/perk combos,

It's the spamming. Shouldn't have more than three M203 shots and max five ordinary grenades per match. They should be used strategically and sparingly.

Yup. Make sure your punkbuster is up to date as well. Just go to the PB site and download the tool and follow the instructions to update Cod4. it's pretty straight forward, if you have problems with it PM me. a fragn good time is a pretty cutthroat server so expect to die a lot, but it's also a lot of fun. No place better to learn than surrounded by people who kick your right?

Start practicing with one of the light machine guns, they have enough stopping power and ammo to take down the helis pretty much on their own. Don't be afraid to return their fire!

Things get easier when you rank up enough to create your own classes

Yeah, good point. Quality rather than quanity. A skilled grenadier (like me ) with three 40s is definitely going to be far more useful than some noob blindly pumping off grenade after grenade from a fortified position.

boy I am glad I have the console version. On that you have max of 3 frags if you have the perk for it and can only have 3 grenade launcher grenades if you have overkill and two rifles with the attachment, and having that attachment removes the ability to have three frags so there is little spamming.

That's what I played, the console version. The fact is, I actually hit further and more accurately the more my grenades depleted, just like in any other game with the 40 mike-mike in it.
In the most recent SOCOM games, you only get a stock supply of three 40s at any one time, with an optional ammo add-on that pushes it to five when needed. And the fewer rounds I have, the more accurate I am. With three, I can hit you from a block away. With one, I can hit you from two blocks.
All that's required is an understanding of the physics of the spherical 40mm projectile.

That's how the PC version is also; I was suggesting per match. As it is now, grenades flies everywhere, and you got the martyrdoms atop of that.

The issue in the PC game, especially on Team Deathmatch, is that you have large numbers of players. 40-50 players on a small map each with 2 or 3 frags which get renewed ever time you respawn. This leads to a almost constant rain of frags on some maps, which intern leads to a lot of respawning and feeds the cycle...

It is like fighting under constant artillery fire...

I do like playing a bit of COD4 on my mate's PS3 after a heavy session down the pub. You come back, kill a few annoying people and laugh every time you remember what button performs the knife attack and you manage to stab to death some poor chap/non-chap. The thing is you don't seem to be able to pick what server you play on, and end up having small battles most of the time on maps you hate. Teamplay modes are out of the question as we end up shooting our own team mates, and most of the free for alls have no more than about 8 players on at once and hence many of the maps feel quite empty. We played the Broadcast level and 90% of the action revolved around the large section where there are 2 floors and windows to the outside all around. Wandering around and picking a good sniper point was mostly pointless. Then again we only ever use the MP5 (or AK47 if I get my way) so it's even more pointless.
