Default Copying a Modded RTW Folder

I have RTW 1.5/BI 1.6 with Rise of Persia running off RTW and XGM running off BI.
My question is, if I make a copy of the BI folder, then uninstall XGM from that specific folder, will the mod remain installed and playable in the original folder?

    Let me rephrase:

If I make a copy of my folders and rename them, will the copies run independently of the originals?

Still no if it's in the in the Creative Assembly folder it's out of here! You could put a copy on you're desktop for storage, but it might even go all the way over there. Could you rephraze the whole thing just to be safe?

Edit - miss read - So you mean will XGM stay in BI?

Don't know how else to rephrase it.
I want to make a copy of BI that I can play with my file preferences (no plagues, no upkeep, 1-turn recruiting) intact, plus I wanted to try and convert the WRE elite spear unit into hoplites with overhand spear attacks (I have the animations for that).

Okay, looking at your first post then your secound i'm totally
But reffering to you first one If you copy the BI then put it somewhere else then unistall whatever it is it should still be there. (whatever is in it) But there's always a small possibilty it's not.

Sorry, I could if I know more of what you're talking about. Tell me what's closer out of all the post.

Okay, let's try a different question: Can somebody give me step-by-step instructions on how to copy the MAIN RTW folder, the one that's in the Start Menu itself?

Every method of copying I come up with ends up running off the main folder.

    Uh, okay...
Let me try my best here-

Click on Rome - Total War (only where it's higlighted)
Right click it then click copy.
Minimize that and go to your destop (or some other folder in My Docs) and right click agin and click past.

I know it's challenging but all you need is practice.

Edit - Let me see if I know where you're going with this you want to uninstall then reinstall and at the end of it you want your modification in it. If it's somewhere in those lines you could copy RTW with mod in it put it somewhere safe, uninstall then reinstall and then delete the data in the new RTW and add the Modded RTW. Somewhere in those lines?

just refering to this part - I think your problem might be how you are launching the game - you'll only get a start menu entry and a shortcut automatically generated when you actually install the first version of the game.

If you want to make a duplicate you can play with slightly different settings / mod on it you need to copy and paste the entire folder somewhere else.

THEN to get to the newly copied version of the game either play by double clicking the copied version of the RTW/BI.exe file that is in the copied folder or make a new shortcut to it by rightclicking on it and creating a new shortcut.

If you just copy the old shortcut or start menu section - you'll still be playing the first version because it will still be pointing to the original folder......
Not used mods before? Looking for something small and fun?!

Is it just me or do mods just know how to put things or what?
Nice job, Makanyane. Never could've done it better myself

My main problem is that I don't know where I'm suppose to put the copied folder.

Do I put it in the documents section? Do I copy the folder, rename it, then put it into the program files?

Well if you don't want it deleted anywhere other than in the Creative Assembly Folder.
